In der Politik lsst man keine Krise ungenutzt verstreichen, ... "IndyWatch Feed National"

Vllig klar also.

Ach. Ach was.

Britain Who Bombed Londons Tube, 2005? "IndyWatch Feed National"

          (L) Madrid train bombing of 2004, Photo: Encyclopedia Britannica (R) TIMEs cover says Inside the Manhunt: An Iraqi Connection?

[Editors note: Another tribute and reflection on Elias]

by Mary W Maxwell

I begin with the statement of the Coroner, Lady Hallett, in her final Inquest report of the London tube bombings:

For the purposes of this report I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the four men who detonated the bombs and therefore murdered the fifty two innocent people were Mohammed Siddique Khan, Shehzad Tanweer, Germaine Lindsay and Hasib Hussain. It is not generally a proper function of an inquest to attribute blame or apportion guilt to individuals, nor is it a proper function of a Coroner to express opinions in the verdicts returned...

Australia and the UK agree not to apply ISDS in Trans-Pacific deal but Clive Palmers $300 bn claim shows more needed to prevent cases against Australia "IndyWatch Feed National"

MEDIA RELEASE                                                                                  Tuesday April 4, 2023

Australia and the UK agree not to apply ISDS in Trans-Pacific deal but Clive Palmers $300 bn claim shows more needed to prevent cases against Australia

We congratulate the Albanese Labor government on reaching agreement with the UK not to apply rules that enable foreign investors to sue governments when the UK joins the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), Dr Patricia Ranald said today.

Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) enables foreign (but not local) investors to claim damages from governments if they can argue that a change in law or policy has reduced their future profits. Labor has a policy to exclude ISDS in new trade agreements and to review its inclusion in existing agreements.

The UK government has published an explanatory document which confirms that In light of the investment relationship the UK has with Australia and New Zealand, we have agreed to disapply the ISDS provisions in CPTPPbetween our countries, said Dr Ranald.

If ISDS had not been excluded, British companies would have been able to sue the Australian government over law or policy changes, including regulation of carbon emissions and other environmental standards. British oil and gas miner Rockhopper Explorations recently won about A$360 million in compensation for lost future profits over Italys 2015 ban on oil and gas drilling within its territorial seas, explained Dr Ranald.

But the Clive Palmer ISDS case shows Labor needs to do more to implement its policy against ISDS and to review its inclusion in existing agreements.

Palmer is claiming $300 billion in an international tribun...

A class of their own: segregation in New South Wales schools "IndyWatch Feed National"

There is no such thing as a private education in Australia. The flow of public money away from public schools has led to the exodus of affluent students to non-government and selective schools. In turn, this exodus has created a segregated education system in Australia where poor, First Nations and disabled students are ghettoised into underfunded and unsustainable learning environments.

Indicting Donald Trump on 34 felonies might propel him back into the Whitehouse "IndyWatch Feed National"

Contributed by Joe Montero

Donald trump is making headlines again. This time it involves his formal arrest and being charged with 24 felonies. A felony is a charge that can carry a prison sentence. Those against Trump feel that its about time he got his just deserts. Those for him see an injustice.

Part of the case is unlawful cover up of payments made to three individuals who had damaging information.

Video from SBS

This is what it looks like on the surface. But there are other dynamics going on here. The observant will notice that the whole episode has ben turned by media into a Hollywood style blockbuster focused on the personalities and sensationalism, and not the fundamental issues. This is not about justice. It is about the show.

For the Trump camp, this works as the launch of the 2024 presidential election campaign, and it might just work. Trump is an odious man who has been given the opportunity to position himself, once again, as the victim of vested interests and defender of working men and women.

It is a lie that works for two reasons. Working men and women are hurting and their faith in the institutions of the United States has been weakened. Trump knows what they want to hear and delivers it in bucket loads.

As he suggests, his is a political case. State persecution is taking place. Trump may be guilty of the charges and deserves punishment. What he is being accused of here is an everyday practice in his business empire and the corporate world. One that is usually allowed. An exception is being made in this case, because of its political nature.

Trump is not likely to be defeated in the court. Only a political movement effectively dealing with the core issues hurting American working men and women and offering real solutions will do this. But the Democrat machine wont take this on. It prefers to run a charade.

Behind it all is a battle between two factions of the Wall Street political elite. They control the Republicans and Democra...

Andrews Government must listen to expert evidence and raise the age to at least 14 "IndyWatch Feed National"

60 Victorian organisations in the Aboriginal, legal, health, faith, youth and human rights sectors, including the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, VACCHO, Jesuit Social Services and Human Rights Law Centre, have in a joint letter called on Premier Daniel Andrews and Attorney-General Jacyln Symes to commit to raising the age of criminal responsibility to at least 14, no younger, and with no exceptions.

Previously, the Standing Council of Attorneys-General (SCAG) had developed a proposal to raise the age to 12. This is despite a report prepared for SCAG in 2020 recommending that the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments should raise the minimum age of criminal responsibility to 14 years of age, without exception

Earlier this year, Daniel Andrews announced that Victoria was willing to lead the nation and raise the age sooner than other states and territories in order to maintain Victorias reputation as the most progressive in the country. If that is the case, then the age of criminal responsibility must not be 10 or 12; the Andrews Government must raise the age to at least 14, with no exceptions.

Anything less would be a failure by the Andrews Government to listen to evidence and experts from Aboriginal, medical, legal and youth organisations, and over 65,700 Victorian people calling to raise the age of criminal responsibility to at least 14, and improve the lives of hundreds of children and young people in Victoria.

The Andrews Government has faced significant pressure for maintaining the age of criminal responsibility at 10. Key government ministers and high-ranking bureaucrats are expected to give evidence before the Yoorrook Justice Commission, the first formal truth-telling process into injustices experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria, in April with critical law reform like raising the age of criminal responsibility set squarely on the agenda.

Quotes from Nerita Waight, CEO of Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service:

The Premier made a strong commitment to raise the age of criminal responsibility. All the expert advice says that children under 14 years old do not have the capability to be criminally responsible and that prison only harms their development. We expect the Premier to listen to the expert advice.

If the Victorian Government keeps the age of criminal responsibility below 14 years old or creates exemptions for certain behaviours, then they have ignored the expert advice and chosen to play politics instead of doing what is right. They have committed to raising the age, now they must go the whole way to deliver it.

Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes recently said that she did not want to s...

Tell Attorney-General Dreyfus to end the illegal imprisonment of Julian Assange - Thursday 10pm Mordialloc "IndyWatch Feed National"

From 10am until 12pm tomorrow, on Thursday 6 April, outside the electoral office of the Attorney General Mark Dreyfus in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Mordialloc, supporters of Julian Assange will be protesting to demand that the Australian government act to end the British Government's imprisonment of Julian Assange.

The Attorny-General Mark Dreyfus, as the most senior legal officer in Australia, must surely be aware that the British Government's imprisonment of Assange, who has broken no British or Australian law, in solitary confinement for 23 hours per day, is in violation of British law, international law and the First Amendment to the US constitution which guarantees the right to free speech. I would be most interested to hear from Mark Dreyfus, himself, why the Australian government has chosen not to act to end the illegal imprisonment of Assange, but I expect not to be given this opportunity.

Please come along to hear speeches, hold banners or hand out leaflets.

Elias Davidsson Interpreted 9-11 As a Violation of Human Rights Law "IndyWatch Feed National"

This is thought to be the Bible of Nat Turner, leader of the slave rebellion in Virginia in 1831.

by Mary W Maxwell, LLB

Many people are interested in 9-11, sensing that the facts should not be swept away by US government, media, and other entities. There are many groups, known as truth communities, that have spent much time in the 21 years since September 11, 2001, trying to figure out ways to deal with this calamity. Individual researchers, too, have worked hard to illuminate the situation or to pin blame.

In 2006, when he was living in Iceland, Elias Davidsson attended to the 9-11 issue from his perspective as a human rights advocate. In particular, he looked to human rights bodies and judiciaries to see what concepts had been developed about the right to truth. He also ran a website, juscogens.com, where he uploaded the works of truthers if they had a legal angle.

I was not aware, until today, of an article that Elias uploaded to scribd.com back in 2006, when he lived in Iceland. It has two parts, of which Part I is the kind of legal thing I just described, and Part II is about specifics of 9-11.

Since he subsequently updated the specifics of 9...

Australia isnt a real nation, its a US military base with kangaroos - article by Caitlin Johnstone "IndyWatch Feed National"

One of the many, many signs that Australia is nothing more than a US military and intelligence asset is the way its government has consistently refused to intervene to protect Australian citizen Julian Assange from political persecution at the hands of the US empire.

In a new article titled , The Guardian quotes Australias foreign minister as saying, We are doing what we can, between government and government, but there are limits to what that diplomacy can achieve. Wong said this when asked if Prime Minister Anthony Albanese discussed the worlds most famous with the US president and British prime minister when he met with them together two weeks ago.

Wong whether her governments leader had raised the issue with his supposed US and UK counterparts, repeating instead the same shes been since Labor took over: that the Assange case has dragged on long enough and should be brought to a close. Which if you listen carefully isnt actually a statement in favour of releasing the WikiLeaks founder or blocking extradition its just saying the case should be concluded hastily, one way or another.

Utter chaos: Knocked Loose delivered a visceral assault with riotous chanted singalongs at the Colonial Hotel "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Mannnn, Melbournes hardcore community has had it good recently. And when I say good, I mean really good. First, there was Comeback Kid & Drains mammoth summer tour; then Turnstile and Speed absolutely annihilated The Forum, and now Knocked Loose have come along and delivered a set chaotic enough that it deserved to be filmed by hate5six, its been beyond a dream for hardcore lovers citywide, but this set was a bit different.

As proudly stated by the groups lead singer Bryan Garris, This is something you dont get at Knotfest; no barricade.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Hes right. A US-based, large-scale act playing in an intimate no-barrier club setting? This was the kind of show that Melbourne-based hardcore fans had been pining over for years now. Naturally, it wasnt an opportunity they were going to waste.

And they didnt. The second Oldham County hardcore outfit hit the stage, the crowd went into turbulent overdrive. Front-flipping stage divers; riotous chanted singalongs and some of the finest two-steppin our city has ever seen it was utter chaos.

But as Garris affirmed, Knocked Loose love chaos and so, they incited it as much as possible.

Opening with the jagged, beatdown heavy Where Light Divides The Holler, before tearing straight into Trapped in the Grasp of a Memory, Knocked Loose hit the stage with an unmistakable ferocity, barely letting the crowd breathe in between songs as they powered through their blistering 45-minute set.

The heavy, machine gun-esque intro of God Knows kicked in with cataclysmic effect, as did the piercing, high-pitched guitars of Billy No Mates and the sludgey bounce of Bellevilles bassline.  Maintaining the energy was Deadringer, which gained an immense crowd reaction with punters happily complying with Garris request to see everyone in here stage dive tonight.

With the crowd still buzzing from Deadringers closing breakdown, Oblivions Peaks opening riff almost sent them absolutely manic, with the pit opening up even larger as punters found a second wind for the older favourite.

But as I said, Knocked Loose love chaos, so before the crowd could even stop and think, that was sick, I cant believe theyre playing older tracks, Garris quickly introduced, This is the oldest song well play tonight. Instinctively the crowd clued into the opening drumbeat of 2014s All My Friends and went abs...

The rules now allow for people 16 years and over to ride, require users to wear a helmet, travel at maximum speeds of 20 km/h and ride on local roads that have a speed limit of up to 60km/h.

At the conclusion of the State Governments extended trial, a report will be prepared for Council to consider the next steps for shared e-scooter schemes in Ballarat.

In the interim, the existing shared e-scooter arrangements with Neuron will continue.

Neurons data shows that riders in Ballarat have travelled more than 450,000 kilometres on the shared e-scooters during the trial, with more than 200,000 individual trips taken.

The average trip is 2.3 kilometres, which is longer than the average trip in the Melbourne trial.

More than 63 percent of rides taken on the Ballarat e-scooters replaced what would have otherwise been a car trip.

The top safety concerns identified as part of the Ballarat trial so far have been riding on footpaths and not wearing a helmet.

Any users riding on footpaths or disobeying other rules face penalties.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson said with the popularity of e-scooters in Ballarat it was exciting to have the trial extended.

The e-scooters provide a safe, fun, and environmentally friendly way to see our beautiful city, he said.

One for the Country: Is this the most eco-friendly beer in Australia? "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Giving back is in the DNA of Hawkes Brewing Co. When Nathan Lennon and David Gibson approached former PM Bob Hawke with the goal of co-founding a brewery with them, he agreed, but on one condition: that 100% of his share of royalties go to Landcare Australia, the environmental charity he helped set up in 1989. For Bob, beer would become an even more significant piece of his legacy, with every pint, pot and tinnie ensuring his influence would continue to support our most precious asset  the planet.

While Nathan and David had always been set on creating a beer business with purpose, Bobs decision to connect Landcare Australia set the moral and ethical foundation for how Hawkes would be operated as a whole.

Bobs early decision making, Nathan says, shaped not only the direction of the business but how we do business. Our ESG [Environmental, Social & Governance] responsibilities are something we take seriously. Starting out with a plan for sustainability and impact creates the set of values to which you live by. It informs the decisions you make. Not just doing it because everyone is doing it. Its what Bob wanted but its also what we always wanted.

Since partnering with Landcare Australia in 2017, Hawkes Brewing Co. has raised over $400,000, with these funds supporting on-the-ground projects across the country, such as bushfire recovery for native and endangered wildlife, volunteer groups removing invasive species and restoring native habitats, mangrove regeneration and Woodfordias native plant nursery.

But it was the construction of their brewery in Marrickville in 2021 that opened up a whole new world of opportunities for Hawkes Brewing Co. It also shaped Brodie Frenchs role as head brewer into something even more innovative than perfecting flavour profiles of crisp, clean froths (although thats definitely still in the job description).

From day zero, Brodie tasked himself with a responsibility to brew with minimal environmental impact, Nathan said.

Whats the impact of a brewery? And how has Hawkes been trimming it down? The three main areas are energy consumption, water usage and waste, and theyve already made steps in the right direction.

For a start, the facilitys 100kw rooftop solar farm powers most of the brewerys operations, with additional energy purchased via a renewables-focused, community-owned provider. Then there a...

Back To Back Theatre are bringing their immersive performance of small metal objects to Geelongs Market Square "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

For the first time since 2010, Back To Back Theatre are bringing their inventive and unique piece of theatre, small metal objects, back to Victoria. From 27 to 30 April, the International Ibsen Award-winning theatre company pairs people watching with an enthralling urban thriller at Market Square Geelong.

Challenging the audiences assumptions of what it means to live with disability, small metal objects is a unique play that unravels amidst the hustle and bustle of urban foot traffic, in this case that of Market Square Shopping Centre.

Stay up to date with whats happening within the regions art scene here

Driven by an ensemble of actors with intellectual disabilities, the performance explores how respect is withheld from outsiders the disabled or unemployed who society deems unproductive.

Each audience member watches from a raised bank with individual sets of headphones, allowing them to be wired into the intensely personal drama. As the story unfolds, the audience is drawn into the world of two men, Gary and Steve, who are normally unnoticed but tonight, they play a crucial role in the plans of two ambitious executives.

10 Best Bike Pump Attachment in Australia (2023) [Top Picks] "IndyWatch Feed Cvic"

A bike pump is an essential tool for any cyclist, whether youre a casual rider or a competitive racer. But whats the best way to attach your bike pump to your bicycle? That depends on the type of bike pump you have and the type of bicycle you ride. If you have a handheld bike pump, the best way to attach it to your bicycle is with a frame-mounted pump bracket. This will keep your pump from bouncing around while youre pedaling and make it easy to access when you need it. If you have a floor-standing bike pump, the best way to attach it is with a hose clamp. This will secure your pump to your bicycle frame and prevent it from tipping over. No matter what type of bike pump you have, make sure to practice using it before you head out on your next ride!.

What I learned about first aid training, how its changed my life and saved others "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Former lifeguard Paul Gaertner, who now works as a First Aid instructor for FirstAidPro, had a chat with us about the importance of First Aid training and his experiences within the industry.

I was a lifeguard for many years. Thats how I got into the First Aid area. I had an accident about 20 years ago where I broke my neck. The only reason that Im still walking around is the people that dealt with me, the first responders immediately at the site, otherwise Id be sitting in a wheelchair having a lot of issues.

Stay up to date with whats happening in and around the region here.

Paul, who has worked with FirstAidPro for over 6 years now, tells us how students often come back with stories about the effect First Aid training has had on their lives. He emphasises how an emergency situation can happen at any moment, and knowing the correct procedure can save lives.

A friend of mine, she was laying in bed with her husband (42 years old) and she rolled over and he was as cold as anything, he was having a heart attack. Shed only done the class a couple of weeks before. She dragged him onto the ground and started doing CPR. The guys alive because she did the First Aid class.

Its remarkable when you see a person (student) a year later and they tell you their mum (or) their dad had a heart attack, and theyve saved their life because of the training that youve done for them. It makes it worthwhile.

FirstAidPro is a Registered Training Organisation specialising in First Aid Training Nationally, delivering high-quality First Aid Courses tailored to meet your specific requirements.

The students rock up at half past 8, have a chat before we start and then we go through the process. We do CPR first, then we do the babies, then we do children. Its just a very relaxed atmosphere. I know that people come in and theyre tense (theyve had a death in the family etc), theyre really stressed and think its gonna bring it all back to them. We deal with that in a very heartfelt, kind way to make that person feel comfortable doing it.

Paul describes how at FirstAidPro they try to make the class engaging.

A lot of our trainers use their own real life experiences to make it real. We dont just talk about what you need to do, we tell you why you need to do it. Ive always believed that if a person knows why theyre doing something, theyre more inclined to do it than if you just say, this is what you need to do. Thats what I think FirstAidPro does really well, we engage.

Pauls role at FirstAidPro focuses specifically on child First Aid.

Free ferry service launched for Geelong to Melbourne commuters this month "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Passengers travelling to and from Victorias second-largest city will have more travel options this month with a free ferry service operating as the Andrews Labor Government delivers level crossing removal works on the Geelong rail line in April and May.

Free express ferry services from the Port Phillip Ferries will operate between Steampacket Pier in Geelong and Harbour Esplanade at Docklands from April 11 to May 3, providing the direct service for passengers each weekday while travel changes are in place.

Stay up to date with whats happening in and around the region here.

It will operate Monday to Friday, with one service travelling from Geelong to Docklands at 7am, and a return service in the evening from Docklands to Geelong at 5.30pm. Free parking is available at Geelong Station and is around 10 minutes walk from the pier.

The journey will take about 90 minutes and the accessible ferry features comfortable seating, work tables, charging stations, a cafe and free Wi-Fi. Bookings for the ferry service are essential and must be made in advance online.

Geelong trains will be disrupted in various sections from Tuesday 11 April to Wednesday 3 May while crews work to remove the Mt Derrimut Road, Deer Park level crossing, build the new Deer Park Station and carry out V/Line maintenance.

Alongside the free express ferry service, coach replacements and shuttle buses will connect with metropolitan services during this time.

Once the Mt Derrimut Road level crossing is gone, it will mean the line is boom gate-free between the city and Deer Park, easing delays for the 23,000 vehicles that pass through the crossing every day, where boom gates can be down for up to 60 per cent of the morning peak.

The Labor Governments program of Big Build works is boosting the economy, creating more than 50,000 jobs and transforming the way Victorians travel.

To plan your journey before you travel, including booking the ferry, visit bigbuild.vic.gov.au.

Happy wanderer "IndyWatch Feed Cvic"

My first reaction upon seeing this bird, the Black-tailed Native-hen, is to gently chuckle! Their puzzled expression and the combination of narrow, cocked tail; scarlet legs, orange iris, and green and red bill, is somewhat incongruous at first glance, but ultimately pleasing.

Black-tailed Native-hens are wanderers. Their favourite habitat is the lignum wetlands of inland Australia, where they can sometimes gather in flocks of thousands. They prefer drying wetlands and tend to appear locally, as if from nowhere, on the wetlands of the Moolort Plains, although I have also seen them around farm dams and Cairn Curran Reservoir. They are reluctant fliers, tending to run when disturbed, but will fly long distances in search of suitable habitat.

The birds pictured here were part of a small flock, less than a dozen., feeding in shallow mudflats along with good numbers of Australian Spotted Crakes.

A music meets wrestling tour to a unicorn festival: 22 Victorian festivals happening in April "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Where are all the Easter songs? Mr Cool Stuff over there in December has plenty of them, but with Easter the pickings are slim. Theres no Last Easter. Theres no Easter in Hollis. Theres no All I Want for Easter is You. Mariah Carey would make a killing. Maybe Beastie Boys Egg Man should get the nod.

Sure, it was written about the trios liking for throwing eggs at people, which isnt cool, but perhaps if this egg was chocolate and filled with a surprise it is something one could get around? Easter needs something, thats all.

Inflation gauge drops away... "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Inflation is beyond peak

The Melbourne Institute released its inflation gauge, and it dropped from 6.3 per cent to 5.7 per cent.

Source: Shane Oliver, AMP

The trimmed mean reading also fell to 5.2 per cent, further confirming that inflation peaked last year.

ANZ-Indeed reported that job ads peaked in September 2022 and have fallen -7.2 per cent since.

As such, the Reserve Bank of Australia will almost certainly be pausing interest rate hikes tomorrow, according to market pricing.

Lending for new homes lowest since November 2008 "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Lending for building crashes

Building approvals were once again atrocious at around 12,600 in February, the recent weakness being driven by a drop in unit approvals in Sydney and Melbourne.

Pre-sales are far too weak to get new projects out of the ground, and apartment prices will need to rise significantly from here before that changes.

House approvals were also still weaving lower over the year in all the main capital cities: Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, and Adelaide.

The trend for building approvals thus continued to decline to the lowest level in 128 months.

Arj Barker is bringing his Power Hour comedy show to Geelong in October "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

What do you get when you take your very best jokes from over the last 30 years, lovingly restore, refine and remaster each one, jam them all into a single hour, and finally, sprinkle in some brand-new material with a hint of improv? You get the best of Arj Barker. Also known as Power Hour.

This year, Australias favourite American comedian Arj Barker is bringing his Power Hour show to Geelong on Saturday 28 October 2023.

Keep up with the latest in local news and entertainment here.

In recent years, he has spent more time in our country than his own and has come to understand our culture perhaps better than we understand it ourselves. His stand-up is both insightful and pointed, like a mind-reading thumb tack, if there were one of those.

Arj has gained major International exposure from his role as Dave on HBOs Flight of the Concords. This, as well as dozens of appearances on popular Aussie TV shows like the original Hey Hey Its Saturday (yep, hes been coming here for a while) Thank God Youre Here, The Glasshouse, Good News Week, Rove Live, The Project, Talkin Bout My Generation, Spicks and Specks, the Great Debate and of course the MICF Gala, he has become a household name in Australia. He was also the very first guest ever to appear on Gordon St. Tonight with Adam Hills, and nobody can ever take that away from him, no matter what happens.

In his home country (well, country of birth at least), he has appeared regularly as a guest on many popular shows including those hosted by David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan OBrian, Jimmy Kimmel and Bill Maher. He has also had three of his very own comedy specials on Comedy Central.

Arj has been a popular act at the most celebrated comedy festivals worldwide, including the Edinburgh Fringe, Just For Laughs in Montreal, and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival now for almost two decades. A prolific and hardworking comic, who tours constantly, Arj has released five DVDS, two of which have been nominated for ARIAs in Australia although he aint won yet. But winning aint everything. There can be only one winner, but there are many losers. So all were saying is, maybe theres something to be said for strength in numbers??

Some of Arj Barkers other projects include The Marijuana-Logues (co-creator), stony parody of the Vagina Monologues which ran off-broadway in NYC for an entire year, and the whimsical animated web series Ari and Poopy (co-creator}, which has a cult online following of fans ranging from 3 to 76 years. In a larger-than-life metallic gold jacket, Rod Stewart turned back time at a highly-anticipated day on the green in Geelong "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

The threat of chilly weather and a drizzle could not dampen the spirits of an excited crowd keen to relive iconic moments of music history with legends Jon Stevens, Cyndi Lauper and Rod Stewart.

Stevens got the crowd moving with his most celebrated anthems from the Billboard charts, before a now 69-year-old Cyndi proved age was absolutely nothing but a number with her still pitch-perfect vocal cords and vibrant energy that a double shot coffee spiked Gen Zer would envy.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

There was an air of activism that echoed through the night with Cyndis Girls Just Wanna Have Fun accompanied by thought-provoking imagery of womens rights activists worldwide, before seemingly clearing the skies with a beautiful sunset-lit rendition of her True Colours ballad.

If anyone was ever worried about Stewarts health after his previous delay for this concert, they neednt have been. Rod, donned in a larger-than-life metallic gold jacket, stormed the stage with otherworldly gusto. Escorted by glittering members of his stunning 13-piece band, he announced his arrival with Addicted to Love a Robert Palmer cover, but you wouldnt have known it. Stewart made it sound as if it has been his song for the last three decades.
