Is Your Carpet Secretly Polluting Your Air? Discover the Surprising Solution "IndyWatch Feed National"

You may think your home is a safe haven from outdoor air pollution. But the truth is, hidden dangers are lurking in your home.

One of the surprising culprits? Your carpets.

Respiratory problems, allergies, and other health issues, especially in pets and children, are often caused by the off-gassing of dust, dirt, and other pollutants trapped in your carpets.

But dont worry theres a surprising solution to this problem: air-purifying plants.

Air Purifying Plants

Air-purifying plants work by removing pollutants from the air through the process of photosynthesis. They absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen while filtering harmful chemicals like formaldehyde and benzene.

Some air-purifying plants are especially effective at tackling carpet pollutants, such as spider plants and peace lilies.

Researchers have found spider plants (Chlorophytum comosum) are particularly effective in removing carpet pollutants. They are capable of absorbing and destroying toxins commonly found in carpets, such as formaldehyde, which is often released from adhesives and synthetic materials.

Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum spp.) are another popular choice for improving indoor air quality. These elegant plants are known for their ability to remove harmful substances like benzene, a chemical often found in cleaning products, paints, and furniture. Studies have shown that peace lilies can reduce benzene levels and increase air quality.

How to Improve Indoor Air Quality by Adding Air-purifying Plants

  • Choose the right plants: Its important to select indoor plants to remove pollutants from the air effectively. Spider plants, peace lilies, and bamboo palms are all excellent choices that can help tackle carpet pollutants.
  • Place plants strategically: Place them near your carpeted areas, such as living rooms or bedrooms, to benefit most from your plants. You can also place them near sources of indoor air pollution, such as furniture or electronics, to further enhance their effectiveness.
  • Keep plants healthy: Make sure your plants get enough light, water, and nutrients to stay healthy and effectively remove pollutants from the air. By doing so, they will continue to remove air pollutants effectively and contribute to a healthier indoor environment.

While air-purifying plants are an excellent addition to improving indoor air quality, they alone may not be sufficient in addressing all the sources of pollution.

Therefore, adopting a multi-faceted approach to maintaining clean and healthy indoor air is essential....

Fiction | A Quiet Man "IndyWatch Feed National"

Im a quiet man. I dont talk much. I like a quiet drink. Sometimes a bit more, sometimes too much. I have this quiet spot at the Royal pub. Just a little spot around from the bar near the corner. They always serve me a beer as soon as I walk in. A bit of a nod, a bit of a wink, and then I slide on to the stool and rest my elbow on the bar. This is what I do. I watch people. They think Im looking straight into my beer glass. Well, I am, sort of. But most of the time I am looking at people.

Crown to pay $450 million after Federal Court ruling "IndyWatch Feed National"

Two casino centred businesses will have to come up with a collective total of $450 million  in penalty payments over two years after AUSTRAC launched civil penalty proceedings against them for breaches of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act).

The Court also ordered Crown to pay AUSTRACs costs.

Crown Melbourne and Crown Perth (Crown) have been ordered to pay up by the Federal Court of Australia.

The order comes after Crown and AUSTRAC (the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre) filed joint submissions with the Federal Court of Australia in May 2023 for the payment of $450 million in instalments over two years.

Detecting, deterring and disrupting criminal abuse

AUSTRAC is the Australian Government agency responsible for detecting, deterring and disrupting criminal abuse of the financial system to protect the community from serious and organised crime.

Through regulation, and enhanced intelligence capabilities, AUSTRAC collects and analyses financial reports and information to generate financial intelligence.

As part of the settlement, Crown admitted that it operated in contravention of the AML/CTF Act, including that Crown Melbourne and Crown Perths AML/CTF programs were not based on appropriate risk assessments, did not have appropriate systems and controls to manage their risks, and were not subject to appropriate oversight by their Boards and senior management.

The serious nature of the breaches

The serious nature of the breaches meant that Crown allowed high-risk activities to take place in its casinos, without intervention, on an ongoing basis. For example:

  • Crown continued a business relationship with a major casino junket operator until 2021, although being aware of allegations the operator was connected to organised crime.
  • Crown failed to appropriately monitor billions of dollars in transactions (including international payment flows) which impacted its ability to identify and disrupt possible suspicious activity, and to report suspicious matters to AUSTRAC and law enforcement.
  • From March 2016 to December 2018, there were at least 75 suspicious incidents involving a total of around $23 million in cash, in a private gaming room which Crown Melbourne gave one casino junket operator exclusive access to.

Substantial and ongoing efforts

However, in settling these proceedings, AUSTRAC took into account the substantial and ongoing efforts undertaken by Crown to address the AML/CTF failings which were the subject of these proceedings.

Acting AUSTRAC CEO Peter Soros noted that AUSTRAC continues to work collaboratively with Crown. Our regulated businesses are supporting them in meeting their obligations to ensure they are equipped to help to protect Australias financial system fr...

Australian Sea Dumping Bill facilitates fossil fuel mining "IndyWatch Feed National"

Dr David Shearman is Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Adelaide and a co-founder of Doctors for the Environment Australia. Here he comments the Australian governments consideration of legislation purported to safely capture carbon at the bottom of the sea but is really a cover to help the gas industry export more gas.

Governments around the world are promoting and subsidising carbon capture and storage (CCUS) to facilitate an increase in fossil gas mining. This will dash any hope of controlling world emissions at a time when there are deep concerns for climate change becoming uncontrollable.

Yet the Australian government and the fossil gas industry are driving huge new developments about which they perpetrate misinformation. Let us examine the Sea Dumping Bill.

Submissions to The Environment Protection (Sea Dumping) Amendment (Using New Technologies to Fight Climate Change) Bill 2023 (the Bill) are now being considered by the Department of the Environment and Water.

One section of the complex Explanatory Memorandum states the Bill would seek to promote the right to health by reducing the impact on human and environmental health of wastes and other matter, especially in regard to the export of carbon dioxide streams and the placement of such matter into the sea for marine geo-engineering activities.

The Bill acts by enabling a permit to be granted for the export of carbon dioxide streams from carbon dioxide capture processes for the purpose of sequestration into a sub-seabed geological formation.

Photo from Reuters: Bill will lead to more gas exports

Therefore, the Bill promotes the right to health under Article 12 of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) It positively engages this right by ensuring that activities allowed by the permits are regulated to minimise their impacts on human and environmental health, especially to the marine e...

Why Is This Freeway So Expensive? (Hint: Because Its Too Damn Wide!) "IndyWatch Feed National"

This article was originally published in City Observatory. It is shared here with permission. All images for this piece were provided by the author unless otherwise indicated.

The fundamental problem with the Oregon Department of Transportations (ODOTs) I-5 Rose Quarter project, and the reason why it has blown through its budget, is that it is really a massive freeway-widening project. The agency claims its just adding a couple of auxiliary lanes, but in reality, its doubling the width of Interstate 5 in a complex urban environment, and its plans for a much wider roadway are the principal reason the project, and its covers, are so expensive.

A Too-Wide Freeway

What no one seems willing to do is ask basic questions about the Rose Quarter. Is the project worth $1.9 billion? Does it even need to be that big and expensive? Isnt the skyrocketing cost and ODOTs growing fiscal crisis a signal that we should consider some other options?

The high cost and prodigious cost overruns of the Rose Quarter are directly related to the excessive width of the project, something that ODOT has gone to great lengths to conceal, characterizing the project as merely adding a single auxiliary lane in each direction. In reality, the project would essentially double the width of I-5 through the Rose Quarter, from its current 82-foot width to 160 feet (and in some places as much as 200 feet).

A brief chronology shows how ODOT staff have repeatedly concealed or obscured the width of the I-5 Rose Quarter project. Their initial 2019 Environmental Assessment presented a misleading and cartoonish freeway cross section that appeared to show that the freeway would be widened to about 126 feet.

City Observatory challenged these claims about the width of the freeway to the Oregon Transportation Commission in December 2020, and the commission directed the staff to meet with us to discuss the issue. The staff refused to answer any questions during this meeting, and instead later issued a written report obfuscating the actual width of the freeway.

In March 2021, No More Freeways obtained three different ...

Scott Ritter Investigation: Agent Zelensky Part 1 "IndyWatch Feed National"

Part 1 of a highly revealing investigative series exploring the unlikely rise to power of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, by American author, military analyst, former US Marine Corps intelligence officer, and former United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) weapons inspector, Scott Ritter.

Scott Ritter says

As a former intelligence officer, Ive been wondering why has no one done an investigation about Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine? His rise to power, in my opinion, represents an incredible manipulation of world opinion that will go down in history as a classic case study in social psychological engineering: an ordinary comedian who came to power because he promised a long-awaited peace, who then dragged his fellow citizens into a bloody war that can only be described as a massacre. With the help of colleagues and experts with first-hand insights into Zelensky, I have poured over documents and video to produce a film that captures this investigation. This story has so many twists and turns that I had to break it into two parts. In the first episode, presented here, I will answer the question about Zelenskys improbable rise to power, and how the Ukrainian President accumulated his vast wealth, a sum that has only become larger since the war with Russia began. And, perhaps most importantly, why I decided to call this film Agent Zelensky. Watch:

More grumbling from Zelensky because NATO doesnt want direct war with Russia "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Drago Bosnic | July 13, 2023

In early October last year, Kiev regime frontman Volodymyr Zelensky called on NATO to launch a preemptive nuclear strike on Russia in order to rule out the possibility of using nuclear weapons. At the time, the mainstream propaganda machine tried everything in its power to present his words as allegedly misinterpreted, but since there is actual footage of it, well let you decide if he genuinely said so:

What should NATO do? Eliminate the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons. But what is important, I once again appeal to the international community, as it was before February 24: pre-emptive strikes, so that they know what will happen to them if used. And not vice versa wait for Russias nuclear strikes, then to say: Oh, you are so, well, keep it from us! Reconsider the application of their pressure, the procedure for applying, Zelensky said during a video conference with the Australian Lowy Institute.

While the aforementioned propaganda narrative tried to whitewash (a standard practice for virtually anything the Neo-Nazi junta does) his statement about these preemptive strikes by claiming these supposedly wouldnt be nuclear, this is openly implied in the comment itself. How else would it be possible to launch strikes against a nuclear power, much less the one with the worlds most powerful thermonuclear arsenal?

Why is this relevant now, approximately ten months later? Zelenskys unhinged commentary is deeply dividing for virtually all NATO members, as none of them wants to be destroyed in minutes for the sake of a corrupt Neo-Nazi regime. The ongoing NATO summit in Vilnius makes Zelensky look no less delusional, as he threw yet another tantrum, complaining that the political West is not doing enough because it doesnt want to make a firm promise to let the Kiev regime into NATO. Apparently, he is deeply frustrated with the regular pattern of the belligerent alliance making pledges, giving billions in so-called aid (over $170 billion, to be exact), promising to deliver F-16 fighter jets, while also expanding its military infrastructure in Eastern Europe.

Although NATO promised it will remove the Membership Action Plan (MAP) requirement for the Neo-Nazi junta, an...

Flawed IPEF Wont Solve Global Supply Chain Issues "IndyWatch Feed National"

Ever since May 2023, when the 14-member Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) reached an agreement on strengthening the resilience of supply chains a crucial aspect of the frameworks second pillar an intense debate has been ignited within academia and media regarding its feasibility. For obvious reasons, scholars and commentators have delved into the potential ramifications and explored various perspectives on the matter. Some have scrutinized the practicality of implementing the agreement, while others have examined the potential economic and geopolitical implications it may entail. While the final text of the IPEF Supply Chain Agreement is yet to be unveiled to the media, initial indications have partially revealed its main features, suggesting the creation of comprehensive regulations and institutional mechanisms. The success of this agreement hinges on its implementation, with a particular focus on delineating tangible measures and possibly establishing specialized projects to propel further advancements.

Launched by US President Joe Biden in May 2022 during a Quad Summit in Tokyo, the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) is a coalition of 14 member countries including India, Australia, Brunei, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The IPEFs declared objective is to establish a shared framework based on four key pillars: connectivity and digital trade, resilient supply chains, clean energy, and corruption-free fair trade. But the IPEF is generally viewed as the United States strategic response to its perceived retreat from the Asia-Pacific region during the Trump era, symbolized by the withdrawal from the ambitious Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), now known as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Evidently, the IPEF is an assertive move by the Biden administration to counter Chinas increasing sway in the Indo-Pacific region. With the IPEF, the United States aims to expand its economic leadership in the region while advancing its foreign policy and economic interests. Through strategic partnerships with member countries, Washington seeks to enhance the development of supply chains and promote regional connectivity in both physical and digital realms. In doing so, the United States hopes to solidify its position as a dominant economic force in the Indo-Pacific region, asserting its influence and securing its long-term economic and strategic objectives.

As per media reports, the proposed agreement has suggested the establishment of three bodies: a Supply Chain Council, a Supply Chain Crisis Response Network, and a Labor Rights Advisory Board. Additionally, the United States has pledged to initiate technical assistance and capacity-building programs, such as digital shipping pilot projects and an IPEF STEM Exchange Program. Nevertheless, the global response from th...

When the Police Arrive! "IndyWatch Feed National"

When the police arrive at your door, it can be a stressful and intimidating situation. However, it is important to remain calm and handle the situation appropriately. Here are some steps to consider:

  1. Determine who is at the door: Before opening the door, it is a good safety habit to determine who is there. You can do this by looking out the window, using a peephole, or asking "Who is it?".
  2. Assess the situation: If you see that it is the police at your door, take a moment to assess the situation. Consider why they might be there, such as a wellness check, responding to a noise complaint, or conducting a neighbourhood survey. Understanding the reason for their visit can help you respond appropriately.
  3. Know your rights: It is important to understand your rights when dealing with the police. If the police have a warrant, you are required to open the door. However, if they do not have a warrant, you have the right to not open the door and can choose not to speak to them. It is important to note that if the police have a warrant, they can legally enter your home if you refuse to open the door.
  4. Consider your options: If you do not feel comfortable with a "knock and talk" situation, you have options. You can choose to greet the police outside after exiting through another door, or you can speak with them through the opening protected by your chain lock. Assess the situation and decide what feels safest and most comfortable for you.
  5. Remain calm and polite: When interacting with the police, it is important to remain calm and polite. Answer their questions respectfully, but remember that you are not obligated to answer any questions if you do not feel comfortable doing so. It is important to maintain a respectful and non-confrontational demeanour throughout the interaction.
  6. Seek legal advice if necessary: If you find yourself in a situation where you are unsure of your rights or feel that your rights have been violated, it may be beneficial to seek legal advice. Consulting with a civil rights attorney can help you understand your opti...

Following the triumph of a similar promotion in Sydney, where users enjoyed a free weekly ride for 12 consecutive weeks, the spotlight now shines on Melbourne as DiDi rolls out this impressive campaign.

Were really excited to launch one of the largest giveaways that we have ever done in Melbourne. Our recent free rides campaign in Sydney was a huge hit giving away free rides across the city and helping customers save hundreds in the process, says DiDi Spokesperson Dan Jordan.

With the recent increase in public transport costs in Melbourne and ongoing cost of living crisis, this initiative is another opportunity for us to provide further value to both our riders and driver partners.

Weve seen demand grow significantly in recent months and were hoping this initiative can provide Melburnians with an alternative mode of transport that is financially viable. We also fully expect that this will benefit our drivers and help them by providing more trips on the platform and consequently increasing their earning potential, he says.

To redeem their free ride, riders simply need to enter the code FREERIDEM...

Dont Bring A Knife To A Gun Fight Or Piers Morgan To An Interview With Noam Chomsky "IndyWatch Feed National"

It started with Piers Morgans trademark sycophancy, introducing the giant left-wing intellectual Noam Chomsky as in my view, one of the great minds of our generation. Which is of course, hard to argue Chomsky is a genius. But before you could say UK phone hacking scandal, things started to head south as it became clear Morgan was in way over his head.

Without wishing to spoil any of Chomskys slap downs of Morgan for asking extraordinarily stupid, loaded alternative fact style questions, as an example, when asked about Chinas intent to invade Taiwan, Chomsky replied: I would suggest distinguishing between western propaganda, and the facts. And when Morgan had a second crack at it, But I would like to describe the world situation as it is, not as its presented by US-British propaganda.

Morgan also raised mad man Vladimir Putins motivations for the war in Ukraine (which he claimed were about restoring the great Russian empire), asking Chomsky what should we do? The first thing we do is try to be clear about the facts. Vladimir Putin said it was a disaster for the Soviet Union to be destroyed, but he added Anyone who thinks it can be restored is out of his mind. That part of the quotation is not given in the West.

So Morgan tried to switch to more familiar ground the culture wars, and specifically, the assault on free speech, with things like teaching critical race theory to children. You can guess how that went.

The interview was going so badly, Morgan was forced to retreat to questions like, What big unanswered question do you have about the universe?

Needless to say, Chomsky made it clear he was uninterested in talking himself or his private life. The video is almost 40 minutes long, but its a masterclass in what happens when a right-wing fluff merchant tries to interview someone with deep knowledge of global politics.

Voice would be a two-way relationship "IndyWatch Feed National"

INDIGENOUS Australians Minister Linda Burney says the proposed Indigenous Voice would be a two-way relationship thats key to solving long-running issues.

As campaigning ahead of the referendum ramps up, Ms Burney said the dynamic between government and the proposed body would be based on trust.

The relationship I want with the Voice is a two-way process, one of respect, one of listening to fresh ideas about intractable problems, she told ABCs Insiders program on Sunday.

The Voice is about two things: its about making a practical difference to the shocking social justice outcomes for Aboriginal people, and of course, its about that wonderful unifying aspect of recognising 65,000 years of history in our constitution.

The comments follow an address by Ms Burney at the National Press Club, where she outlined that the Voice would have four main policy areas of health, education, jobs and housing.

The minister said she would respect the independence of the Voice

Hospital denies mistreatment after one-year-old dies "IndyWatch Feed National"

A PERTH hospital has denied neglecting a one-year-old Indigenous girl who died in its care, amid claims staff were racist and lied to the childs family.

The girl, whose family asked for her to be referred to as Kailee, was admitted to Perth Childrens Hospital for treatment early last week.

She died soon after in the Emergency Department as staff tried to resuscitate her.

The girls mother, Charmain Blurton, on Tuesday claimed medical staff lied to her about her daughters condition after she rushed her to the hospital for help.

Theyre saying all sorts of bulls**t, they dont even know what it is, she told reporters during a press conference outside the hospital when asked what her daughter was diagnosed with.

Its hard, they should know what the f**k it is. This is a baby, man, not a life to play with.

They just basically neglected my daughter because my daughter was killed in this hospital without being cared for.

Ms Blurton and her supporters also claimed the hospital was racist towards the family, amid claims the system was failing Indigenous Australians.

They wont even look at us black people properly, she said.

Were just devastated our girl wasnt looked after properly.

The hospital has disputed the allegations, saying staff declared a code blue and provided emergency resuscitation

Cricket teams tour lives on in memorial museum "IndyWatch Feed National"

IN 1868, the first team of Australian Aboriginal cricketers toured England. Then 120 years later another Aboriginal team followed in their footsteps. The story of these two teams is now on display at a special museum in Edenhope, Victoria.

The story began on November 2, 1967, when a group of Indigenous men from Western Victoria gathered on the Queenscliff shoreline under the cover of darkness to go fishing.

Their real objective, however, was not to fish, but to avoid the Victorian Aboriginal Protection Board.

The men successfully boarded the steamship Rangatira for passage to Sydney, and eventually landed in the United Kingdom. They were the first Australian Cricket side to ever tour England.

Once in England, they took to the field 99 days out of a possible 126, playing 47 matches in 40 centres. Its a feat not matched by any team since.

In 1988, a decision was made to recreate the original team from modern Indigenous players to celebrate and honour the legacy of the original tour.

Thirty-five First Nations men were selected from cricket teams across the country, many of whom were playing at the highest levels of state cricket.

This select group were bundled off to the Australian Institute of Sport and were put through their paces with a final selection of 11 men to train and prepare for a tour of England.

Those 11 men spent time in Edenhope, Victoria, getting to know each other and immersing themselves in the history

To Save CO2, Australia Opts To Upcycle Tallest Skyscraper "IndyWatch Feed National"

Youtube

In 2014, AMP Capital, an Australian firm, issued a remarkable and unconventional challenge to the architectural community of Sydney: transform their skyscraper headquarters into a new structure without demolishing it.

The goal was to upcycle the AMP Center, formerly the tallest building in Sydney, into the worlds first upcycled skyscraper, resulting in a truly awe-inspiring outcome.

Instead of tearing down the existing AMP Center, the innovative approach involved adding a second tower to its core. This approach proved to be highly beneficial, saving approximately 12,000 tons of CO2 that would have been emitted through the use of heavy machinery and the release of carbon trapped in the cement. To put this in perspective, 12,000 tons of CO2 is equivalent to the maximum energy consumption of the 49-story tower over a period of three years.

Although the AMP Center, constructed in the 1970s, was not in a state of disrepair, it was no longer a suitable option for the company. Rather than committing to the enormous costs associated with demolition and construction from scratch, the firm chose to explore alternative possibilities.

It seems clear there is a war against humanity from land, sea, and air. The powers above are trying every which way to poison populations. The posting of this is not to scare but to make one aware.

I have over 50 quotes from globalist leaders, both past and present, that clearly state their disdain for the average person and their desire to...

Russias Lavrov: Ukraine conflict will not end until West drops plans to defeat Moscow "IndyWatch Feed National"

Reuters July 12, 2023

The armed confrontation in Ukraine will continue until the West gives up plans to dominate and defeat Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with an Indonesian newspaper published on Wednesday.

The goal of the US-led collective West is to strengthen its global hegemony, Lavrov told the Kompas newspaper. Lavrov is due to attend the East Asia Summit and ASEAN Regional Forum in Jakarta this week, as is U.S. Secretary of State

Why doesnt the armed confrontation in Ukraine come to an end? The answer is very simple it will continue until the West gives up its plans to preserve its domination and overcome its obsessive desire to inflict on Russia a strategic defeat at the hands of its Kiev puppets, according to a transcript of the interview published on Russias foreign ministry website.

For the time being, there are no signs of change in this position.

Russia waged a full-scale invasion in Ukraine in February 2022, calling it a special military operation to denazify its neighbour. Kyiv and its allies call the war, now in its 17th month, an aggression to grab land.

On Wednesday, Russia launched a wave of kamikaze drone attacks on Kyiv for a second night in row and hours before President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was due to meet NATO leaders at a summit in Vilnius.

The West says it wants to help Ukraine win its conflict with Russia, and Western powers have supplied large amounts of modern arms and ammunition to Kyiv.

Lavrov also accused Kyiv of ignoring Indonesias peace plan and instead promoting its own package of ultimatums.

Ukraine dismissed the Indonesian plan, a multi-point formula which had included a call for the establishment of a demilitarised zone, reiterating Kyivs position that Russia should withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

Commenting on the internal strife in Myanmar since a military coup in 2021, Lavrov urged the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to resolve issues with close cooperation with the junta and without interfering in Myanmars domestic affairs.

ASEAN foreign ministers meeting on Tuesday were expected to address the growing violence in Myanmar. The regional bloc has barred the junta from its summits for failing to implement an agreed peace plan.

AFTINET Submission to the Inquiry into Australias Human Rights Framework "IndyWatch Feed National"

July 13, 2023: The Australian government has launched an inquiry to review the scope and effectiveness of Australias Human Rights Framework and assess whether improvements can be made.

There has been strong civil society support for a reform of Australias Human Rights Framework, particularly for a new Federal Human Rights Act or Charter.

AFTINETs submission shows the profound impact of trade and investment agreements on human rights related to environment, gender, indigenous peoples, labour, health and access to essential services. The submission recommends Australias new human rights mechanism, in whatever form this takes, be capable of evaluating the impact of trade and investment agreements on human rights before they are signed and include enforceable commitments to internationally recognised human rights, labour rights and environmental standards for Australia and other signatory countries.

The 4th Industrial Revolution - We are all alone together "IndyWatch Feed National"

Ants respond to isolation in a similar way to humans. Studies reveal changes in social and hygienic behaviors in ants subjected to isolation from their groups. Another interesting finding has to do with the fact that immune and stress genes are severely downgraded in the brains of isolated ants. This makes the immune system less efficient, which has also been observed in isolated humans.

Socialization, physical contact and the ability to do the things we like are vitally important to the health and well-being of humans. Isolation can be very stressful leading to rapid decline in a person's mental and physical health. Isolated individuals become lonely, depressed, anxious and more easily prone to addictions. Their immune systems become weakened, which also negatively impacts their overall health and resistance to diseases.

There is also an additional unexpected consequence observed in one particular species of ants, which lasts beyond the term of social deprivation - the loss of interest in their adult colony mates, a rather alarming finding in the context of social distancing practices, lockdowns and isolation during Covid.

The artificially manufactured identity crisis aims at destroying traditions, cultural norms, and established value systems in order to leave humanity a blank slate susceptible and open to new trends and iterations. Our environment, habitats and urban organization are also subject to targeted infrastructure upgrades, alterations, and technological manipulations, all incrementally and strategically executed in accord with the unfolding social reformations. The purpose of this exercise is part of an ongoing social engineering experiment designed to undo and remake the fabric of society, and deliver us to the frontiers of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, trapped in the Digital Panopticon - ALL ALONE TOGETHER.

WE ARE THE TEST SUBJECTS IN THIS ONGOING GLOBAL SOCIAL ENGINEERING EXPERIMENT!

Tooth Discolouration: What Causes It and How You Can Prevent It "IndyWatch Feed National"

We all want a bright and healthy smile. But sometimes, tooth discolouration gets in the way. Tooth discolouration is the staining or darkening of your teeth, and can have a variety of underlying causes. Today, well dive into all that you need to know about tooth discolouration and what you can do to get that radiant smile back.

The Type of Tooth Discolouration

  • Extrinsic DiscolourationExtrinsic discolouration refers to when the outer layer of the tooth, known as the enamel, becomes stained or discoloured. This is usually caused by external environmental factors, such as consuming certain foods and beverages.
  • Intrinsic DiscolourationIntrinsic discolouration begins inside your tooth and affects the layer underneath your enamel called dentin. Common causes include dental trauma and some medications.

Common Causes of Tooth Discolouration

  • Food and Drinks

Dark-coloured food and drinks like coffee, cola and red wine contain pigments that can adhere to the enamel of your teeth over time. Regular consumption without a proper oral hygiene routine can eventually lead to intrinsic staining over time.

  • Tobacco Use

Smoking or chewing tobacco products can cause significant tooth discolouration. This is because the nicotine and tar found inside them can penetrate the enamel, resulting in persistent stains that are stubborn and hard to remove.

  • Poor Oral Hygiene

Poor oral hygiene, generally due to a lack of brushing or flossing, can lead to a buildup of plaque and tatar on your teeth. This will eventually lead to discolouration and abnormally high amounts of bacteria in your mouth, resulting in tooth decay and intrinsic staining.

Unavoidable Causes

  • AgeingAs we get older, our tooth enamel gets thinner and thinner. This exposes the dentin hiding underneath, which has a yellow hue and can lead to your teeth appearing discoloured with age.
  • GeneticsThe natural colour, brightness and translucency of your teeth are different for everyone, and can be heavily influenced by genetics.
  • Dental TraumaDamage to your teeth caused by anything from car crashes to sports-related injuries can cause trauma that then leads to discolouration.
  • Health ConditionsCertain health conditions such as liver disease, celiac disease and eating disorders can cause a higher chance of teeth discolouration occurring.

Nowhere and everywhere: Wanderer Festivals second year is a big one "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Last year, Wanderer Festival was a welcome beacon for those tired of the overbearing joy the pandemic gave us all (jks, obvs). It was a festival for all, conveniently located halfway between Sydney and Melbourne while also being a three-hour road trip from Canberra. Set in the scenic coastal town of Pambula Beach, the three-day festival was a huge success, so much so that it was able to grow and return.

Yet another festival-brainchild from Simon Daly, who has given us Falls and The Lost Lands, Wanderer offered a diverse program, wrapped up in an event that aimed to be as green as possible. This year, these same ideas are taken even further, and we caught up with Daly to learn more about what to expect.

Jacobin on how to perfect the architecture of control "IndyWatch Feed National"

My interview in US outlet, Jacobin, about my new book, The Palestine Laboratory. The conversation, conducted by Mattha Busby, covered a wide range of areas from Israeli spying to the role of the Zionist lobby:

Wars and occupations have long been testing grounds for technology, science, and surveillance. In a domain mostly controlled by the oppressor, subject populations are sure to find ingenious ways to rise up but their captors also find new ways to subjugate them. This is the reality in the occupied Palestinian territories, where Israel has maintained the longest occupation in modern times fifty-six years and counting.

The Israeli state and its closely aligned military-industrial complex writes its own rule book. Its soldiers watch as extremist Jewish settlers launch pogroms against Palestinians in the West Bank. Over one thousand Palestinians are held in indefinite detention without charge in Israeli jails.

Palestinian access to water is used as a potent state-controlled weaponfor the settler movement. Meanwhile, Israeli arms companies promote their weapons with real footage in which Palestinian children are left injured.

But in the court of international opinion, the tide is turning against Israel. In May, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories denounced the apartheid system over which colonial power Israel rules Palestinians. Tens of millions of dollars are sent from the United States by registered charities to bankroll illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, but the New York State Assembly will soon consider a bill that would prevent the tax-deductible practice.

As journalist, author, and filmmaker Antony Loewenstein writes in...

The Toads push the scope of Melbournes ever-emerging DIY-punk scene with debut In The Wilderness "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Anti Fade is more than just a record label. They have that whole Fast and the Furious its all about family vibe going on with members from almost every band on their roster chopping and changing to lend their services to their mates newest side project. And somehow, every new project that the label boasts not only maintains a distinct flavour from one another, they seemingly get better and better.

The Toads are their newest offering.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Finding their sound between the thin-wire garage rock guitar tones of Article 58 and the geeky, yet stoic nature of proto-punks The Modern Lovers, The Toads mark themselves as newcomers worth keeping an eye on.

In The Wilderness by The Toads

Their debut In the Wilderness showcases the groups self-described brand of nervy post-punk scuffle with finesse marrying sharp, tinny guitar tones with echoes of disco quirk and gothic drawl. Miles Jansens naturally despondent vocals uphold the groups sound, with his nonchalant demeanour and deadpan delivery maintaining the angst and boredom of UK garage punk, whilst simultaneously channelling adding an adjacent playful larrikin wit.

Through a combination of ragged 1970s surf-punk riffs (Two Dozen Functions), humdrum Brit-Pop melodies (Gimme Little More), and minimalistic post-punk rhythms (The Next Door), In the Wilderness marks itself as a debut release that continues to push the scope of Melbournes ever emerging DIY punk scene in refreshing new ways, while still gi...

Peril on Your Plate: Effects of GE and Chemical Agriculture "IndyWatch Feed National"

Editor's Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published June 23, 2018.

After being told by her doctor that genetically engineered (GE) food and pesticides could be responsible for her son's food allergies, Ekaterina Yakovleva set out to investigate. Her quest for answers was captured by the Russian Times in the featured film, "The Peril on Your Plate: Genetic Engineering and Chemical Agriculture."

The film shows Yakovleva and her team traveling the world to meet "the people who lift the lid on the perils of GMOs and the chemicals used in the industry," as well as proponents of GMOs who argue that genetic engineering is a "high-tech" solution to feeding the world's growing population.

Advocates for genetic engineering tell Yakovleva that the technology is beneficial to farmers in that it increases resistance to pests and disease, as well as produces higher yields. But Yakovleva isn't convinced.

She learns nothing could be further from the truth after witnessing the devastation caused by mass farmer suicides in India as a result of the failure of Monsanto's Bt cotton. Yakovleva visits the U.K. where she meets Lady Margaret, Countess of Mar, a member of the House of Lords and a former farmer who suffered from chemical use, and then to the U.S. where she meets with Zen Honeycutt of Moms Across America about the link between GMOs, pesticides and chronic disease in humans.

What Is Genetic Engineering?

In order to better understand genetic engineering and its impact on human health, Yakovleva starts to research the technique and how it's used. She learns that genetic engineering enables DNA to be transferred not only between different kinds of plants, but even between different kingdoms, meaning scientists can take DNA from an insect or animal and insert it into the genome of a plant.

Many GMO proponents claim that genetic engineering is just an extension of natural breeding methods, and just as safe. Nothing could be further from the truth on both counts. Genetic engineering is radically different from conventional breeding techniques used to improve a crop. For starters, it's a laboratory-based technique allowing scientists to create a food that could never be created by nature.

Claire Robinson, editor of GM Watch and co-author of the book, "GMO Myths and Truths: A Citizen's Guide to the Evidence on the Safety and Efficacy of Genetically Modified Foods and Crops," says:

"Genetic engineering enables DNA to be transferred not only between different kinds of plants, but even between different kingdoms. You can take DNA from an insect, an animal, a virus or a bacterium, and insert it into the genome of a food crop plant. This is actually a very imprecise p...

#258: Written in the skies "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Surplus Energy Economics

PEAK OIL AND THE UNFOLDING INFLEXION

On a glorious summers day towards the end of the Second World War, a German fighter ace, his squadron grounded for lack of fuel, sat in a deck-chair watching the vapour trails of American bombers write the end of the Third Reich across azure skies.

Metaphorically, a similar message is being sky-written now. According to Goehring & Rozencwajg who are as good as it gets where energy analysis is concerned Hubberts peak is finally here. Only hindsight, of course, can conclusively determine the moment at which peak oil became a reality, but G&R are very probably right.

With conventional oil production in decline since 2016, the only source of unconventional supply which remains capable of further increase is the Permian basin, located in six counties in West Texas.

This basin, say G&R, is within a year of its own peak, and

NATO summit in Vilnius proved to be a major failure "IndyWatch Feed National"

Contributed from Victoria

The just concluded NATO summit in Vilnius ended by producing little, except to reveal uncertainty and lack of member unity. This was supposed to be a stage-managed affair, showing the world solid support for the Kyiv side of the war in Ukraine, and a determined launch of NATO presence in Asia. Neither was delivered.

Part of the problem was Kyiv leader Zelenskyys dig at NATO for not permitting Ukraine to join it at once. NATOs problem is that public support for backing him is weak, and NATO members are under political pressure. They are compelled to at least make what they do look good.

Besides waning public support, especially in Europe, for the war, there is the problem that Kyiv is supposed to meet the supposed democratic credentials for membership. This is awkward, when a range of political parties have been banned, political critics are being arrested, and pro-Nazi groups elevated. This is not a good look and NATO would have considerable difficulty selling it.

Then there is failure of the present offensive on the battlefield. As many as 26,000 soldiers in the past month, and most of its tanks, personnel carriers, and other advanced equipment. There is speculation that Zelenskyy knows he is not going to have a chance of winning without NATO putting boots into Ukraine and escalating to the use of nuclear weapons, and this is what he is ultimately pushing towards. In doing so, he is making NATO nervous and building divisions within it.

Photo from AP: Ukraines President Volodymyr Zelenskyy failed at NATO summit

The decision of the United States to supply Ukraine with cluster bombs is unpopular and creates more difficulty for NATO.

Immediate membership of Ukraine is not supported by some of the member nations. Zelenskyy asked for a roadmap for joining. He got a Vague promise that membership will be organised as soon as possible.

Los Angeles Housing Department Will Investigate Residential Hotels "IndyWatch Feed National"

<p><p class="byline">by <span class="name">Robin Urevich</span>, <a href="https://capitalandmain.com/">Capital & Main, and Gabriel Sandoval, ProPublica

This article was produced for ProPublicas Local Reporting Network in partnership with <a href= "https://capitalandmain.com/">Capital & Main. Sign up for Dispatches to get stories like this one as soon as they are published.

The Los Angeles Housing Department said Tuesday that it will immediately investigate whether some residential hotels, which are required by city law to be reserved for low-cost housing, are instead renting rooms to tourists.</p> <p>The citys action came just one day after Capital & Main and ProPublica revealed that 21 residential hotels were advertising on travel websites and that the Housing Department had failed to stop their owners from turning housing units into hotel rooms.

Department spokesperson Sharon Sandow said in a statement that over the next six to seven weeks the Housing Department will investigate all 21 of the hotels identified in the article and will, where warranted, issue citations and make appropriate referrals to the City Attorney's office. The department will also review its enforcement efforts, she said.</p> <p>The mayors office requested the Housing Department conduct the investigation, said Zach Seidl, a spokesperson for LA Mayor Karen Bass. We are asking for a report back on all 21 properties in 45 days, Seidl said. In addition, we are asking for a report on how this happened and recommendations for ensuring this does not happen again. The mayors office did not answer questions emailed to its staff ahead of the initial story.</p> <p>In LA, residential hotels are supposed to provide housing of last resort for the citys poorest people. The hotels consist of small basic rooms some with shared bathrooms and are sometimes the only housing that many elderly, disabled and low-income workers can afford.</p> <p>Under a 2008 law, these hotels must remain residential, unless their owners either build replacements for the housing units they take off the market or pay into a city housing fund. The city has a list of about 300 residential hotels, defined as a building of six or more units that are the primary residences of their guests.</p> ...</p>

Calls grow to put the brakes on deep-sea mining as countries discuss rules "IndyWatch Feed National"

Deep-sea mining is facing growing opposition at a critical moment that could either enable the prospective industry to advance or halt it in its tracks. On July 10, the U.N.-associated deep-sea mining regulator, the International Seabed Authority (ISA), opened a highly anticipated meeting in Kingston, Jamaica, to discuss adopting mining regulations to govern seabed extraction. Two years ago, the tiny Pacific island nation of Nauru activated a two-year rule that pressured the ISA to finalize its regulations by July 9, 2023, or begin accepting applications for extraction with whatever rules were in place at the time. Currently, the mining regulations are still in draft form and appear far from complete, experts close to the matter say. Over the past few weeks, several countries, including Sweden, Ireland and Switzerland, have voiced new support for a moratorium or precautionary pause on deep-sea mining. Canada the home country of The Metals Company (TMC), a firm sponsored by Nauru with plans to start mining in the near future through one of its subsidiaries has also called for a moratorium. Other nations that have called for similar measures on earlier occasions include Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, the Federated States of Micronesia, Ecuador, Fiji, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, Palau, Samoa and Vanuatu. Last year, France called for an outright ban on deep-sea mining. Many car companies, including BMW, Volvo Group and Renault, also support a moratorium and have vowed not to use any metals extracted from the ocean in their electric vehicles. This article was originally published on Mongabay

Work underway on Dubbo fluoride repair "IndyWatch Feed National"

The tender for the refurbishment of the fluoride dosing system at the John Gilbert Water Treatment Plant (JGWTP) in Dubbo has been awarded by Dubbo Regional Council (DRC).

Following a comprehensive evaluation process, the council resolved to engage TWS Evolution at the tendered amount of $1,192,101. This decision has been finalised with all requisite documentation assessed by NSW Public Works and the Department of Planning and Environment (Water Group).

The design phase has been initiated and is expected to span approximately 12 weeks. Upon completion and approval of the design, work will commence at the JGWTP with a targeted completion date set for the end of April 2024.

Since the failure of the citys fluoridation equipment in January 2019, Dubbos residents have been without fluoride in their water supply. Despite the JGWTP staff alerting the councils leadership at the time, no immediate corrective action was undertaken.

The issue was not fully addressed until April 2022 when the newly appointed council leadership became aware of the lack of fluoride. Subsequent to this, meetings were held with NSW Health, DPE Water and NSW Public Works to comprehend the magnitude of the problem and formulate an effective solution.

I once again extend my apologies to the public for this significant breach of trust. In January 2019, the community should have been notified about the lack of fluoride in the water supply. This oversight not only represents a breach of public trust but also, according to Section 6B of the Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies Act 1957, the unauthorised discontinuation of fluoridation is a breach of the Act, Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson said.

Transparency is paramount and it should have been vital that the public be informed about the situation.

The council initially aimed to reintroduce fluoride into the water supply by June 2023. However, in collaboration with NSW Public Works, DPE Water and NSW Health it became evident that the project was more complex and time-consuming than initially estimated. Further, the decision was made to implement a different fluoride dosing method compared to the one previously used at the JGWTP.

I apologise to the public for not meeting our target date. The project was substantially larger than initially estimated, but it was crucial that we execute this correctly for the future residents of Dubbo, Clr Dickerson said.

The affected water supply includes potable town water from the JGWTP which serves Dubbo, Wongarbon, Eumungerie, Ballimore, Mogriguy and Brocklehurst.

Water fluoridation refers to the process of adjusting the fluoride concentration in drinking water to an optimal level that helps mitigate tooth decay. Dubbos water supply currently only includes natural fluoridation.

Dawkins embarrasses himself again "IndyWatch Feed National"

Oh no, Richard Dawkins, stop. Hes asked in an interview what he thinks of doctors being arrested for gender affirming care, and his old eloquence is completely gone. He stutters, he stammers, he struggles to get an answer out, and he looks for an excuse to evade the question for adults, he asks, or children. Like it makes a difference, like theres an age that justifies suffering. He finally gets out

I would have strong objections to doctors injecting minors, children, or performing surgery on them to change their sex

Note that this does not answer the question. Should doctors be jailed for providing gender-affirming care? I dont care if someone has opinions and objects, the question is whether it is right for the state to arrest care-givers for giving care?

OK, so he doesnt think children should be treated for this issue not that theyre getting sex change operations anyway, they might at best be given therapy and reversible puberty blockers. What about adults?

If theyve thought about it properly

As if trans people dont even think long and hard about it, and as if hes the right person to judge if theyve properly thought about it. He goes on to say that it might be OK if if they struggle and suffer over it. You can be trans, according to Dawkins, if youve been made sufficiently miserable.

What were seeing now is a fashion, a craze, mimetic epidemic which is spreading like an epidemic of measles or something like that

Oh, just go ahead and spit out the words woke mind virus, its what you really want to say, boomer.

That doesnt even make sense. Is measles a meme now? Is it really a good idea to compare a fashion to a serious, life threatening disease? Is the state of being trans a biological disease at all?

The recent Jenin operation looks different when considering Palestine as a weapons laboratory "IndyWatch Feed National"

A strong review of my new book, The Palestine Laboratory, by writer Syndication Bureau (focusing solely on the Middle East).

An extract:

The occupation of Palestine is the most funded and resourced state project in Israels history. On the surface, the occupation has been sold as a temporary defensive measure necessary for Israels survival. However, it satisfies many other needs. Given the biblical connection to the West Bank, the occupation provides a religious veneer to the project of secular Zionism. Control over holy cities with deep meaning in Jewish religious history rallies Jews worldwide to support Israel and its government.

More importantly, Israels military control over an entire population has facilitated the creation of a lucrative weapons industry. In his new book, The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports the Technology of Occupation Around the World, Australian journalist Antony Loewenstein has documented the intricate connection between the occupation of Palestine and the development of the modern weapons industry. Controlling millions of people requires more than a strong military. Israel has dominated virtually all aspects of Palestinian life with remarkable efficiency through a matrix of checkpoints, physical barriers, and advanced surveillance technologies.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are warned that the following article contains footage of deceased persons.

Presenting talent and wisdom beyond her years, Jess Hitchcock has stirred the Australian music and performing arts scene as a genre-defying force. Her powerful voice and knack for storytelling have seen her shine across pop, country, folk, opera and music theatre, sharing the stage and studio with some of Australias industry favourites.

Hitchcock shined with her 2019 debut Bloodline, inspired by her family origins from Saibai Island, in the Torres Strait, and Papua New Guinea. Now the artist comes to life on her new album Unbreakable, a dynamic and sweetly soaring outpouring of feel-good sounds and raw, vulnerable emotion.

Safe or septic Japans nuclear wastewater dumping "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

RNZ, From The Detail, Tom Kitchin, co-host of The Detail @inkitchnz tom.kitchin@rnz.co.nz 11 July 23

There are diplomatic headaches and heated scientific debates after Japan revealed plans to dump the wastewater its been using to cool the Fukushima nuclear power plant  in the Pacific.

Sea and ground water has been used to cool the damaged reactors, and now theres about 1.3 million tonnes of that sitting in tanks while the Japanese government and plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) figure out what to do with it.

They want to release the wastewater into the ocean  diluting all the cancer-causing nuclear fission products out of it  such as caesium, which can build up in muscles, strontium-90 which can build up in bones and iodine-129 which can build up in the thyroid.

. journalist Nic Maclellan, a Melbourne-based correspondent with Islands Business Magazine, tells The Detail.

The Pacific Islands Forum has been especially critical, and appointed an independent scientific panel to investigate safety issues around the proposed dumping, he says.

The panel has raised a series of issues around the quality of the sampling, the cost of the sampling, the cost of the programme over decades, the maintenance of safety sampling and the fact that they really dont know whether Japan can maintain the quality that will stop other radioactive isotopes being released into the ocean.

There are also questions over whether the wastewater dump is a breach of the Treaty of Rarotonga, signed in 1985, which created a South Pacific nuclear-free zone.

It was largely about nuclear weapons, but article seven talks about preventing nuclear waste dumping.

Japan has been acting as if these safety concerns are not serious and its taken a lot of pressure for Japan to be dragged kicking and screaming into addressing questions, many of which are still unresolved, Maclellan says.

AliExpress enabling frausters doing nothing about it? "IndyWatch Feed National"

Any selling medium does attract criminals and while in Australia there may be law against false or misleading advertising, Australian 'consumers' are at the mercy of others.

There are plenty of fraudsters, Chinese nationals, on AliEpress, where they are blatantly ripping off overseas buyers.

What is AliExpress doing about it? Very little, not enough.

What is the Chinese government doing about it? Nothing!

Would one seriously expect a government to act against its nationals defrauding 'round eyes', when (globally recognised) copyright law has zero effect or execution in China?

What about Team America World Police, when are they going to save the day?

As they say, buyer beware.

Their most recent release, The Future Is Your Past, came out in February this year and received praise from critics. The bands previous release, 2022s Fire Doesnt Grow On Trees, sprung up from an intense period for Newcombe as the artist wrote one song a day for 70 days during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bringing together elements of kaleidoscopic rock and droning shoegaze with an experimental edge, the music that emerged from this period just added to the rich discography that makes up the legend of The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Since coming out of the pandemic, the band has toured throughout the US and Europe. Theyre all set to bring their mesmerising show down under this summer.

Two stern warnings must be given to the arrogant NATO "IndyWatch Feed National"

Two stern warnings must be given to the arrogant NATO: Global Times editorial

Global Times Editorial

July 12, 2023: Information Clearing House -- The NATO summit is being held in Vilnius, Lithuania, from Tuesday to Thursday. The meeting focuses on plans to "counter the threat" from Russia, including discussions on NATO's expansion and Ukraine's future membership to NATO. Meanwhile, NATO's strategic impulse to meddle in the Asia-Pacific region is also imminent at this summit. Expanding cooperation with the four "Asia-Pacific partners" - Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand - is another major topic of the summit. In this regard, the US media boldly stated that NATO is trying to "deter China's strategic ambitions."

This is the second year that Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand have been invited to the NATO summit. In order to firmly rope in these four countries, NATO imitated the "Quad" mechanism of the US, Japan, India and Australia at last year's summit, and specially created a new name for these four countries called "Asia-Pacific Four (AP4)." This aims to institutionalize the cooperation between these four countries and NATO, and make them de facto new allies of "NATO+" in the Asia-Pacific region. According to sources, the joint statement to be issued in Vilnius will change the name of AP4 to "Indo-Pacific Four (IP4)," which is undoubtedly more in line with Washington's tone.

There are 31 NATO members, but they have never been monolithic and have different views on many international issues. However, they are in general dominated by the will of the US. Now they have been kidnapped by the panic and tension instigated by the US, becoming "Washington's axe, spears and shovels." Wherever NATO goes, wars are likely to break out. These are not only the subjective impressions left by NATO, but also objective facts to a large extent. This situation is actually more worthy of the high vigilance of those member states within NATO that have no intention of being pa...

NATO is malicious poison former Australian PM "IndyWatch Feed National"

NATO is malicious poison former Australian PM

By News Agencies

July 12, 2023: Information Clearing House -- NATO has no place in Asia and should stick to its original focus, that is the security of the Transatlantic region, former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating has argued. The Labour politician, who served in office from 1991 to 1996, also warned against attempts to circumscribeChina.

In his statement published on Sunday, Keating appeared to refer to a recent report in Politico, which claimed French President Emmanuel Macron had blocked NATOs plans to establish a liaison office in Japan.

The former premier lauded the French head of state for doing the world a service by apparently emphasizing the military blocs focus on Europe and the Atlantic.

According to Keating, the alliances very existence past the end of the Cold War has already denied peaceful unity to the broader Europe.

Exporting such malicious poison to Asia would be akin to Asia welcoming the plague upon itself, he insisted. The former prime minister warned that NATOs presence on the continent would negate most of the regions recent advances.

Keating went on to describe NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg as the supreme fool on the international stage who is conducting himself like an American agent.

Hmmm. Have we seen this before? "IndyWatch Feed National"

In the 1970s, Whitlam set up the Royal Commission into Human Relationships (fascinating stuff).

One of the many topics they considered was comprehensive sex education.

There is a need for early and continuous sex education and for an educational program which will help young people to be responsible to themselves and to each other and to decide and act with knowledge, not in fear or ignorance.

Royal Commission into Human Relationships, Final Report, 1977

Conservatives at the time went into a frenzy of pearl clutching, insisting that priests and parents were the only people who should ever talk to children about sex. They ignored the evidence that many parents didnt have the information their kids needed, or didnt know how to talk to kids about sex, or had deeply disturbing attitudes towards sex that needed disrupting.

Most of all they ignored all the parents who wanted schools and experts to teach their kids about sex because they knew it would make their kids safer and happier.

Almost 50 years later, the only thing thats changed is a different Royal Commission stopped even the LNP demanding that priests should talk to children about sex.

Effective consent education stops the weaponisation of fear and shame. It gives kids and teens the power to make safer, stronger choices about their own lives and bodies.

People who reject consent education and people who think their power base depends on weaponising fear and shame theres a Venn diagram thats pretty much a perfect circle.

If you want to know more about consent education, heres something I prepared earlier

QUESTION: Marty,

Will the Brics launching a gold backed currency be the catalist for bankrupting 3rd world economies? Or is it rising interest rates on their debt?

Tks for all the light u share in a confusing economic landscape.

Cbeers
.baldy

ANSWER: It is unlikely that we are looking at a BRICS single currency like the euro, for that would require a central monetary authority, surrender of sovereignty as in Brussels, end any possibility of QE, etc. We would need to completely collapse the idea of Keynesian Economics insofar as it has evolved, allowing deficit spending.

There is no special magic to gold. It was first restricted to only kings, for it was considered to be the tears from the sun god. As more gold was discovered, it began to be used for the jewelry of wealthy aristocrats. Then it became used as money in its natural form, known as electrum, a natural alloy of gold mixed with silver.

The Melbourne singer-songwriters second LP was co-produced by Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Waxahatchee, Kevin Morby), songs written from the ashes of a tough but transformative few years of relationship changes, private breakdowns and core-shaking revelations.

The multiple ARIA nominee first entered the cultural consciousness via 2017 breakthrough track Slow Mover, with Salt cementing her as a globally recognised artist to watch. With an explosive live show reminiscent of Big Thief and The War on Drugs, Angie McMahon has become renowned for her truthful storytelling that speaks to the unpolished and messy experiences of life. Shes toured the US supporting Hozier, performed at Dot To Dot (UK), Best Kept Secret (NL), Splendour In The Grass and Groovin The Moo festivals as well as shows alongside Julia Jacklin, Mumford and Sons, Angus and Julia Stone and more.

Bioweapons are the type of weapon directed at human health. Of course, weapons such as a gun or a spear are also directed at human health, but here the method is to make the person sick rather than wounded. How to deliver a bioweapon? Put it in the food supply or water supply, inject it, or put it in an insect (or a rat?) which will then deliver it via a bite.

Its claimed that today there are higher-tech bioweapons. You get a chip put into your body which has a receiver of information. The perp can then send instructions for it to interfere with one of your bodys systems. Arent we just marvelous human beings that we have fi...

Federal Court does not recognise age pension discrimination, despite Australian Government's failure to close life expectancy gap "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Federal Court of Australia has dismissed the legal challenge seeking fair and equal access to the age pension for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Proud Wakka Wakka man Uncle Dennis* brought the case in which the Federal Government faced court for the first time in connection with its failure to close the gap in life expectancy between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people.

Despite recognising the ongoing gap in life expectancy, the Court did not accept that Australia's racial discrimination laws should give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people earlier access to the age pension.

It comes on the same day as The Closing the Gap Annual Data Compilation Report found that Australia is still not on track to meet the target of equal life expectancy by 2031. No progress towards this target was reported since the previous year.

The Albanese government has a responsibility to address age pension inequality out of court, by lowering the pension age for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The current pension age of 67 years does not account for the stark differences in life expectancy and health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It means that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people do not have the same opportunity to retire and receive support through the age pension as other Australians. Equal access to the pension would also support several Closing the Gap targets.

Uncle Dennis brought the case with the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service and the Human Rights Law Centre, with support from DLA Piper.

Proud Wakka Wakka man Uncle Dennis said:

Im frustrated with this white system, its not a system of the land. It doesnt give us a say. White people are living longer because they havent lost what we have lost. As an Aboriginal man, Ive seen too many of my people dying at a very early age. We are lucky to get to 50 years old. This case was about telling the truth, and asking the Government to work together with us, to give our people the same chance in life as everyone else.

Things will never get better unless the Government closes the gaps it created. We didnt have a problem, a problem came here. Our language, our culture and our identity comes from here, it doesnt come from another country. Truth, justice and accountability are important.

Nerita Waight, CEO at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service said:
Everyone deserves to live a life with dignity but this is not possible for our communities who have been left with no choice but to live shorter lives in poverty because of decades of racist colonial policies and a continued lack of investment and change in the systems, institutions and policies that affect their lives day in day out.

This marks their first proper headline tour since 2019, just before the world descended into unprecedented chaos. With a swathe of postponed shows now completed behind them, and their creative ideas born over the pandemic now crystallized into their most compelling record to date, ENDLESS promises to serve as an emphatic conclusion to the tumultuous past few years, ushering in a new chapter for the band and igniting a fresh wave of thrilling prospects.

Accompanying the album and tour announcement is the explosive release of the second single, BISEXUAL AWAKENING, along with a provocative music video certain to turn heads and raise eyebrows. Check it out above!

Written between 2020 and 2022, ENDLESS represents a significant milestone for CLOWNS. During these isolated times, the period forced the band to fully appreciate the importance of in-person rehearsals and studio time to feel connected to their music. As the early home demos unfolded, a powerful theme of immortality emerged in the music, capturing their unyielding determination to persevere and adapt to a rapidly changing world. The concept of immortality naturally revealed itself, first bubbling subconsciously in the bands creative hive mind and eventually taking centre stage in the albums narrative. ENDLESS delves into uncharted sonic territories, incorporating elements of 80s heavy metal, new wave, and analogue synthesizers.

World Federation of Trade Unions issued statement on the NATO Summit 2023 "IndyWatch Feed National"

The NATO summit in Vilnius is about to conclude. It faced some serious issues. Notably the situation in Ukraine and the controversy over an intended expansion into Asia. Critics point out that NATO is on a course towards war and that the push for the prevention of war and for a peaceful relationship between nations is critical to our collective future. The World Federation of Unions, representing 105 million workers in 133 countries issued the statement below just prior to the summit.

The World Federation of Trade Unions, on behalf of its 105 million workers who live, work and struggle in 133 countries of the 5 continents strongly condemns the imperialist plans of NATO and considers the 2023 Summit which is going to be held July 11-12 in Vilnius, Lithuania, one more blatant provocation to the whole peaceful humanity.

The peoples all over the globe know we well the bloody mission of this imperialist alliance is to maintain, and expand if possible, the existing favourable correlation of forces for the NATO countries in order to safeguard the profits of their monopolies.  In the imperialist system which is characterized by the fierce competitions of the imperialist forces for geopolitical control and the control of energy resources and their transport routes, both the peoples of the member-states of NATO and the other counties peoples have nothing to expect from the imperialist alliances and wars except death, suffering, poverty, and misery.

The class-oriented world trade union movement, the militant unions, and those who truly want peace consistently and continuously struggle against NATO which constitutes an aggressive war machine in the service of the interests of the imperialist countries of the alliance.   The peoples of the world have a first-hand experience of NATO crimes and they know that NATO means nothing but interventions, wars, juntas, refugees, starvation, destruction, and death.

The WFTU condemns the continuation of military interventions and wars, the accelerated militarization of international relations, and the soaring military expenditures; it demands an immediate end to all imperialist armed conflicts, full respect for the sovereignty, independence, and right of every people to freely choose their present and future.

We denounce the exclusions, discriminations, embargoes, and sanctions imposed by the US, NATO, and the EU against various countries, as they negatively impact the standard of living of low-income families, workers, poor small farmers, and popular strata in general.

Anyone With Drugs, Put Them On The Table: The Redgum Years In The Sunshine State "IndyWatch Feed National"

John Schumann (ex-Redgum lead singer/songwriter) and the Vagabond Crew are returning to Brisbane with The Redgum Years in August. Here, Schumann reflects on gigging in the dark days of the Bjelke-Petersen regime, and finds Redgums protest songs from the 70s and 80s still apply today.

It was September 1979. We were staying in some crappy three-star holiday units in Tweed Heads and Tim Woods, our tour manager, assembled us in one of the kitchens after breakfast.

Redgum was very much a part-time band then. Two of us were high-school teachers so touring opportunities were confined to school holidays. Tim, now a successful concert promoter, was the only member of the touring party who had the faintest idea about the music industry and Queensland.

Okay, anyone with any drugs at all I mean at all  put them on the table now.

People shuffled uncomfortably and little by little, small quantities of marijuana in tobacco tins and Gladbags and the odd morsel of crumbly black hash in tinfoil appeared on the Laminex table. It was pretty pathetic, really. These days the combined stash would be considered well within personal use limit for one person.

Iconic Australian band, Redgum.

Right. Were going into Queensland. Were Special Branch targets so we need to be as clean as a bottle of Dettol. Smoke it now, flush it, bury it somewhere I dont care. But its not coming across the border.

Wed released our first album, If You Dont Fight You Lose, barely a year before. One of my contributions was a strident song delivered in my strangulated, nasal tones called Letter to BJ. It was addressed to Queenslands notorious premier and it had garnered a fair bit of attention on both sides of the civil liberties argument. Plenty of Queenslanders were dying to see us play it live. Plenty more would have been just as happy to see our heads on pikes lining the road out of Tweed Heads.

The Lies We Were Told "IndyWatch Feed National"

How long does it take to conclude some authority is lying? We dont know this answer yet apparently many years.

BY BILL RICE, JR. | JULY 11, 2023

I recently discovered an excellent Substack Newsletter authored by a registered nurse (Dee Dee) who has treated many (alleged) Covid patients. This nurse finally had enough and decided to share her stories and thoughts via her own Substack, which she started May 25th.

From reading a couple of her pithy posts, my take-away is Nurse Dee must feel like the main character in Joseph Hellers classic novel Catch 22.

In that novel the experiences and observations of a fictional WW II bombardier tell readers the guidance and logic used by his superiors is complete madness.

Dees observations prompted my own question: When do citizens or employees finally realize that every supposedly-true thing theyve been told is, in fact, a brazen lie?

For most people, at least with Covid proclamations, the answer seems to be never.

In other words, for many people, being lied to over and over doesnt matter.

To put it mildly, such a revelation is a tad disconcerting.

One message and it wasnt subtle

Dee Dees observations from a June 2nd dispatch might show readers why I thought of Catch-22, where the message to bomber crews was just do what you are told; dont try to figure out the logic.

With Covid, Nurse Dee identifies the goal of all orders. Instead of just fly the dangerous mission, the key message is: Just take the shot.

The logic surrounding COVID-19 was circular. Every dictated premise, required blind faith and the goal was always the same; to take the shot.

You could not question the narrative and remain a good citizen The mantra erupted, this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

No argument could be interjected in the logic. It didnt matter if you had not seen a new illness with unique symptoms It didnt matter if the science didnt make sense. It didnt matter if the measures were opposite to all your previous medical training.

It didnt matter that the vaccine did not stop transmission, and it didnt matter if you had natural immunity.  Essentially, we were told to accept every claim without evidence or reason. The orders had been given, just take the shot.

What one nurse was told

Clive Palmer launches second ISDS case against the Australian government with third case likely "IndyWatch Feed National"

12 July, 2023:  The Attorney Generals Department has confirmed that Clive Palmers company, Zeph Investment which is registered in Singapore, has lodged a second Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) claim suing the Australian government for $41.3 billion under the 2012 ASEAN-Australia New Zealand Free Trade Agreement.

ISDS is a mechanism within some trade agreements which enables foreign (but not local) investors to sue governments for millions and even billions of dollars of compensation if they can argue, among other reasons, that a change in domestic law or policy has reduced the value of their investment.

Clive Palmer is claiming to be a Singaporean investor, as Zeph Investment is registered in Singapore, to utilise the ISDS mechanism to lodge his claim. He is alleging that the refusal of coal exploration permits in Queensland, which were refused on environmental grounds, entitles him to ISDS compensation.

Clive Palmers most recent ISDS case is just one of the two new prospective ISDS cases revealed in the May budget papers. The Attorney Generals Department has confirmed that Zeph Investment is expected to lodge a third ISDS case.

These cases follow two previous cases that Clive Palmer has taken against the Australian government. In October 2021, Clive Palmer lost his $27.8 billion High Court (non-ISDS) case against the Western Australian government over a disputed mining lease. He moved assets to  Singapore to take this case to an ISDS tribunal and in April 2023 he sued the Australian government for almost $300 billion.

Clive Palmers latest case means he is currently suing the Australian government for $337.3 billion under ISDS, not accounting for a potential third case. Even if Clive Palmer loses these cases, it can be expected to cost the Australian government millions in legal fees. A previous ISDS case between Phillip Morris and the Australian government over plain cigarette packaging cost Australia $12 million in legal fees and took over 5 years to resolve.

Barnaby Hunts A Name For New Nationals Think Tank. Hilarity Ensues. "IndyWatch Feed National"

Apparently (and by apparently we mean possibly) the Nationals are contemplating a Think Tank and Political Activist Group to rival GetUp!, Advance Australia and the IPA. Which, for pretty obvious reasons isnt going to be easy. Because, you know, the words Barnaby Joyce and Think Tank appearing in the same sentence is almost certain to evoke fits of laughter in most quarters, and get in the way of the very thing that think tanks are supposed to promote namely, thinking.

Ever ready to assist, the Twitterverse has exploded with suggestions to help the Member for New England find his way through the confusing maze of word thingies (and in the interests of accuracy its also possible that the Twitterverse is equally responsible for creating the whole concept but wheres the fun in fact-checking that). The batting was opened by a Mr. Philip Riley, proud Wiradjuri man and retired schoolteacher, whose suggestions include Intellecta Nullius, All Hat No Cattle, and Happy Hour.

Other suggestions forthcoming include Septic Tank, Lie Down (a play on GetUp!, arf arf), Drink Up!, No Flies On Us, Empty Paddocks, No-one Left, Rorting Rooters, Bourbon Bangers, All Hat No Head, and Cattlemen Up No Trails.

Some of the more classy names included The Bull Dust Institute, The Mudguard Centre (all bright and shiny on top but filthy underneath), the Fertiliser Forum, and the Sir Les Patterson Foundation.

And in a flurry of suggestions, Greg Burch offered: Drink Tank, Gin Up!, Institute of Public Bars, Institute of Elicit Affairs, Institute of the Public Purse, and Integrous Nullius. Its possible Mr Burch is either no fan of the Nationals, or believes them to have a drinking problem.

Judy Lloyd Dalton offered more of an interpretive artwork than a name a photo of Barnaby Joyce sleeping through a session of parliament, prompting Mr Riley to remark, Hes got 2 of the Seven Dwarfs covered Sleepy and Dopey.

Keiran Dwyer also offered up some artwork:

The two-tier economy "IndyWatch Feed National"

Have you tried to get a tradie recently?

How about booking your car in for a service, or hiring a removalist that can fit you in before Christmas?

If youve tried calling any of these local businesses recently, youve probably discovered that demand for basic services like these is majorly outstripping supply.

Welcome to the north coasts two-speed economy.

While the local retail sector struggles under the dual pressures of rising interest rates and the increased cost of living, industries involved in providing basic, grass roots services are booming.

Many tradies have waiting periods of two months for an average-sized job, while some, such as carpenters and tilers, are almost impossible to get, unless youre willing to pay a premium.

The average wait to book your car in for a service in the Shire is two-to-four weeks, and if youre moving house within the local area youll want to plan at least eight weeks ahead.

A series of interviews conducted by The Echo with experts and those working in these industries suggest the boom and consequent shortages in these industries are the outcome of multiple factors.

They include the increase in demand for the building industry brought about by the 2022 floods, and the mass migration to the Northern Rivers during covid.

At the same time, there is a critical shortage of workers in some of these areas, particularly in the trades sector.

Jason Bentley, from the Byron Bay Chamber of Commerce, said the region was definitely seeing different industries at different levels.

The trade sector is going gang busters. Some are struggling to keep up with demand.

But at the same time, others are having to close down their operations or move out of the area.

Jane Laverty, President of the Northern Rivers chapter of Business NSW, said businesses in the region typically fell into one of three lanes: those that were really struggling, those who were hanging in there, and those who were seeing ongoing very high demand.

Golden triangle

All of these businesses are facing what I call the golden triangle, which is housing, staffing and skills, she said.

These are the three biggest challenges that pretty much everyone is facing.......

God vs. Love "IndyWatch Feed National"

Can you define love? Its not tangible. Is it measurable in any way? How do you know you love someone or something, and dont say, You just know.

I feel a lot of love in my life for different people and different things, all for different reasons. I can describe love, but I cant define it. Google kept using the term affection when I looked it up, but I wasnt really satisfied with that. Why is something so meaningful so hard to put into words?

Have you heard this argument how can you believe in love and not god? You cant see or touch love just like you cant see or touch god.

How do you answer that question?

First off, do you really believe in love? If so, what makes love believable and not god?

Obviously, I dont believe in god but I do believe in love. Why is that? Wheres the evidence? Whats your best defense?

I dont have a good answer. I think love is real because I can feel it, but many people would probably say the same about god.

Back me up give me a definition of love. Why is love real and god isnt?

When Net Zero Describes Common Sense And Progress, Rather Than Emissions "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Australias path to net zero emissions isnt so much rocky as it breathtakingly foolish. That is unless were all okay with wide-scale habitat destruction both here and overseas) while wasting trillions of dollars in the process. Geoff Russell weighs in on the renewables vs nuclear debate, which seems to be going from the bizarre to the absurdum.

Mathematicians often use a form of proof called Reductio ad absurdum. If you want to prove something is false, then assume its true and see what that implies. If the implication is false or contrary to something we know is true, then the job is done.

Heres an example. Suppose Jill and Joe are having a discussion. Joe believes in the power of prayer and Jill wants to prove that praying for something doesnt work.

JOE: If I pray, then I can pass my exam.

Jill assumes prayer works and so tries to see what that implies.

JILL: If prayer works, then few, if any Christians would ever have died from cancer.

Thats true if most Christians with a cancer diagnosis respond by praying not to die (from the cancer).

Jill: So, since many Christians die of cancer (every day), prayer doesnt work.

Theres a bit of slack in that argument. Maybe Christians dont all take to prayer when given a cancer diagnosis, and maybe some die without being diagnosed. A mathematician doing mathematics would be more rigorous, but Reductio arguments are often used in this rough and ready way.

Of course, you can escape the argument by exploiting a common loop hole.

Joe: Prayer definitely works, just not all the time and only if you are devout.

Enter Net Zero Australia.

New views of a cough: From TB and chronic cough to hope for Parkinsons "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Michael Shiloh had been studying tuberculosis for about two decades when he started wondering about a seemingly basic question: What makes people with TB cough? This is the diseases hallmark symptom and a main mode of transmission, but despite training as an infectious disease physician and many years of probing the pathogen as a researcher, Shiloh realized that he didnt know. A quick search of the literature suggested that essentially nothing had been studied about it, at least not at the molecular level, he says.

Elucidating the role of cough in illness means first appreciating its role in health. Cough is one of these critical defensive processes that we have to clear the respiratory system, says Stuart Mazzone, a neuroscientist at the University of Melbourne. But it also contributes to disease spread, as research by Shiloh, now at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and others has described. And dysfunctional control of coughing resulting in too much coughing or not enough can cause serious health problems.

Heres a look at how and why we cough, and some of the ways that coughing can go wrong.

Melbournes Triple R radio on The Palestine Laboratory "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

My interview with Melbournes Triple R Radio program, The Grapevine, about my new book, The Palestine Laboratory:

The Palestine Laboratory is a new book by journalist Antony Loewenstein that documents how Israels subjugation of the Palestinian people serves as a testing ground for weapons and surveillance systems that are then exported around the world.

Built on extensive research, interviews and on-the-ground reporting, the book draws on modern events including Harvey Weinstein, 9/11 and the current crisis in Ukraine to show the consequences of a military industrial complex that facilitates the persecution of groups in many parts of the world.

Antony joined Dylan and Kulja on The Grapevine to talk through it all.

Whats happening in Palestine is not staying there the occupation is being exported The technologies and tools that Israel has developed over decades whether its spyware drones or facial recognition technology is now a massive export business to countless countries around the world.

ABC National helps UDIA push to cover golf-courses with housing VIC "IndyWatch Feed National"

We predicted this would happen when the Vic government put developers in charge of and regional Victoria.  The seizure of these green public and private lands is now being normalised on public media. Affected and ordinary citizens are not being interviewed, or their community organisations, such as Planning Democracy, PPLVic, Sustainable Population Australia, only property developers, who are given an undeserved moral authority via the ABC, simply by promoting their opinion via interviews that allow them to justify overdevelopment and overpopulation without putting any of the obvious logical challenges to their false and self-interested arguments. Australians deserve more, much more from the ABC.

Max Shifman of the Urban Development Institute was interviewed on ABC Radio National 792 Brisbane today around 8.30 am about a push to develop golf courses in Melbourne's South Eastern suburbs - which would include the Mornington Peninsula. This interview used and abused the problem of Australian homelessness as an excuse to overturn hardwon community land and property rights that have to date prevented wholesale slaughter-planning.

Shifman, without any acknowledgement of the utter irony, pointed to the 'need to house new migrants' who he suggested don't want to live in high rise appartments - contrary to the Vic Government's current 'policies' to build this stylel of dwelling (e.g. activity centres)  - but would rather detached homes. (So would most Australians, Mr Shifman - but not at the price the developer industry likes.)

The obvious rejoinder to the mention of migrants needing such developments to live in was that surely we should be limiting migration if it is causing us to disrupt communities and wildlife.  No such comment. The ABC is so apparently corrupt with regard to pleasing the developer-led agenda.

Of course, we have massive population pressure due to the political pressure groups that have been brought to bear on our polity by the property developer institutes and their financiers, who have got government to engage with a huge expanding migration program.  So, the Urban Development Institute has a history of issuing press releases to justify mass migration, yet we all have to put up with the ABC acting as if mass migration has nothing to do with such interest groups.

Every time I turn on the ABC, they are advocating more housing, more mi...

LAGOS JULY 10TH (URHOBOTODAY)-A 23 years old man, identified as Victor Benjamin has died in a popular hotel located along the East West Road axis in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Vanguard gathered that the deceased had lodged in room No: 414 of Wetland hotel Ughelli, on Saturday before his mysterious untimely death on Sunday.

According sources, The young man had gone to the hotel to relax and when his friends came looking for him, a receptionist told them that he has checked out of the hotel.

Not satisfied with the answer of the receptionist, they went to the room of the deceased only to find his lifeless body on the floor and they raised alarm. the anonymous source revealed.

When contacted via phone call, an investor in the hotel, Richard Kpedi Esq said, I was told a young man checked into the hotel at about 11-12 in the night and during the routine check and checkout time at about 1:pm his body was found on the floor.

When the house keeper got there he saw the man, he went and call his manager and he came, luckily for them, his relations were already coming because they said he came from Ghana.

He was rushed to the hospital in Ughelli there and when they got there, the doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.

We as a corporate organisation, we decide to inform the police and a statement under caution was taken from the management, before we talked about bail and all that.

I think the next thing now is to wait for the autopsy report and know the cause of his death

Antidepressants Can Cause Chemical Castration "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

From Maryanne Demasi Reports: Antidepressants can cause severe, sometimes irreversible, sexual dysfunction that persists even after discontinuing the medication. Sufferers have described it as chemical castration a type of genital mutilation caused by antidepressants, mainly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). The condition is known as post-SSRI sexual dysfunction (PSSD), a condition largely unrecognised, and the true incidence of which is unknown.

David Healy, psychiatrist and founder of RxISK.org said, I saw my first patient with PSSD in 2000, a 35-year-old lady who told me that three months after stopping treatment, she could rub a hard-bristled brush across her genitals and feel nothing. Josef Witt-Doerring, psychiatrist and former FDA medical officer said, This condition is so devastating that it will cause serious changes to your life and to those around you.

It happened to Rosie

In 2020, during protracted Covid lockdowns in Melbourne, 23-year-old Rosie Tilli felt an increasing sense of anxiety and depression. Her psychiatrist prescribed a low dose of Lexapro (escitalopram), an SSRI to help Rosie calm down, assuring her that if she experienced side effects, theyd go away once she stopped the medication. Soon after taking the medication Rosie felt emotionally blunted, but took it as a positive sign. At first, I thought it was great because it felt like the medication was working. But then I couldnt feel my emotions, I couldnt cry, I had no sexual desire, and my genitals went numb.

After four months, Rosie decided to slowly wean herself off the medication. Some of her symptoms improved and the fog lifted, but over the next two years her libido faded to nothing. It has been two years of hell. Now, I have no sexual function. Im numb down there. I cant have an orgasm. It feels like my soul has just been vacuumed out of my body. I feel completely asexual, said Rosie. She sought help from various professionals, but none believed it could be the antidepressant because the drug had already left her system. They concluded it was all in her mind.

Rosie went to a local youth centre for help, but they ended up sectioning her under the Mental Health Act with an Involuntary Treatment Order, insisting she take antipsychotic medication. I refused to take an antipsychotic because I knew I wasnt psychotic. Instead, they forced me to take another antidepressant against my will in order to leave the facility, said Rosie. It was the most traumatic thing Ive ever been through in my life. I fel...

Property for sale remained relatively tight across each of the major capital cities, and significantly lower than a year earlier in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.

Listings have increased notably in Canberra and Hobart, after some stellar price performance in recent years.

Make the Catholic Church pay land-tax, not the poor - Response to new land-tax bill Victoria, Australia "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

The Catholic Church owns many billions of dollars of land in Australia but does not pay any land-tax. Today, in Victoria, Australia, if you own a second property worth more than 300,000, you pay land-tax. Soon, however, property worth 50,000 and upwards will be taxed, if a new bill goes ahead. This makes no moral sense in an era of skyrocketing land-prices, where you would logically expect land-tax thresholds to rise, not to fall. This letter to Tim Pallas MP suggests that, rather than punish Australians with very modest land-holdings, Australia should simply tax the Catholic Churchs vast holdings.

The following letter was sent to Tim Pallas Victorian Labor MP.

Dear Mr. Pallas

Re: Land Tax Act 2005, recent amendments and consequences

We write to express our concern and disappointment with your announcement in the recent state budget to reduce the exemption for paying Land Tax from $300,000 to $50,000.

The purpose of this amendment is inexplicable, perhaps other than to perversely begin levying Land Tax in a draconian way on the least wealthy land owners. Setting a $50,000 exemption is unnecessarily cruel and draconian on those who may have acquired a small holding many years ago, and who, for a range of reasons may not be able, or inclined, to dispose of the land.

Indeed, an increase in the exemption threshold was long overdue and was expected to be increased due to the long delay since the last adjustment. Logically, as land values always rise, so should the threshold for exemption, and we suggest the exemption should have been increased to at least $1 million to maintain the existing relativities.

Land-tax changes would affect pension eligibility

Pensioners for example, now forced to sell their land to pay for the increasingly prohibitive Land Tax rates, may find themselves ineligible for the pension, or reduced to only a part pension as they would then have too much cash to be eligible for a pension.

It is cruel and unfair to expect elderly pensioners, who may have owned the block next door for decades to have to engage in a market sale of their land, and the personal consequences to them, such as living arrangements, family issues, eligibility for health care etc. - arising from what is effectively for many a forced sale. In short, given the relatively few people affected it is a very limited source of revenue for the state. It seems instead....

There don't appear to be any workable plans to tackle this, with Victoria's state government now reducing incentives for off-the-plan purchases and increasing land taxes for landlords in the face of record population growth.

Metabolic Overshoot "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Anyone lurking on this humble blog will have noticed that Ive become rather passionate about the state of the food industry and its impact on the global health system. All of the doctors and scientists Ive featured here in the past six months all say get off the seed oils and switch to olive or coconut oil. Which I did twenty years ago already. This got me thinking, is it even possible?

Global oilseed production is projected to reach 632 million tons on record plantings. Soybean production is forecast to rise 23 million tons to 386 million, a 6-percent increase. Production of all oilseeds is forecast to increase, with all but cottonseed and rapeseed reaching at least 10-year records.12 May 2021

On average, during the period 2016 to 2021, world production of olive oil was 3.1 million metric tons (3.4 million short tons). Spain produced 44% of world production. The next largest producers were Italy, Greece, Tunisia, Turkey and Morocco. I now refuse to buy anything but Australian olive oil after being warned by a Sicilian wwoofer who worked here that most European olive oil is cut with seed oil.

Simple maths therefore shows that theres 210 times more unhealthy oil produced globally than healthy olive oil..

Coconut oil is just as bad at 3.6 million tonnes. Worse, a quick google discovered this :

As I suspected, the whole metabolic syndrome epidemic is not a problem, its just another predicament. In fact its so much like lets switch from fossil fuels to renewables, its not funny. This ones outcome, however, is that it will kill millions, if not, eventually billions of people.. And when youre in serious overshoot, population collapse is the only outcome.

according to Dr Robert Lustig who was one of Nate Hagens recent blog guests, the growth in diabetes in the USA (quite...

eX-detainees Statement Refugee Week or Refugee Day is like a parody of a PR saviour campaign while we suffer continuous discrimination and detention abuse in Western and non-Western countries. "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

At present, there are over 103 million forcibly displaced people worldwide, with over 32 million refugees among them. Over 1 million refugee children were born as refugees.

What is the main aim of Refugee Week or Refugee Day, originally initiated by UNHCR (the UN High Commissioner for Refugees), a mostly white, non-refugee led organisation? Highlighting fairytale-like sad and happy refugee stories, running a fundraiser for your refugee saviour organisation, or showcasing exotic cooking shows or cultural shows on Refugee Week or Refugee Day, while refugees surviving persecution and abuse have to prove to the world that we can assimilate, smile, or be prepared to participate in social transactions that enable refugee organisations to make money or deliver an exotic cultural presentation to everyone. This is the wholesale package delivered by Refugee Week or Refugee Day.

Do we still want to continue this vulture refugee industry? Is this about us or you? Nothing is surprising when the UNHCR sets the saviour complex bar within the refugee sector by running a patronising PR circus during World refugee week/day. When the world leader of refugee rights organisations functions like this, we can imagine that every other organisation will follow the same orientalist approach.

Meanwhile, the Australian government, and governments across the world are spending millions of dollars acquiring weapons and building their military while blocking those of us fleeing from the destruction caused by these policies from seeking protection and the opportunity to rebuild our lives so we can look forward to a future.

In so-called Australia, racist refugee policies continue. eX-detainees who arrived 30 years ago have still not gotten citizenship, and/or have no access to humanitarian pathways for family reunion. As a result, 1000s of eX-detainee families arriving in Australia kids and adult family members are not allowed to receive access to social security and many other support services to build a future, including Austudy or HECS. Each eX-detainee refugee needs to spend over $10,000 to bring family members to Australia. This adds another layer of trauma and oppression, on top of existing trauma and oppression, with many of us eX-detainees having to live with permanent disabilities caused by institutional abuse and torture by the Australian governments de...

Peak oil according to Dr Tim Morgan "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Surplus Energy Economics

The home of the SEEDS economic model Tim

#258: Written in the skies

Posted on

This basin, say G&R, is within a year of its own peak, and we know how rapidly shale production declines once a basin slips onto the down-slope of the drilling treadmill. The rates of decline of individual shale wells tend to be very rapid, and a point inevitably arrives at which operators can no longer drill enough new wells to stop overall output declining.

OPEC claims to have 4 mmb/d of spare production capacity, but this even if true, which is highly debateable wouldnt tide us over for long, with demand growing, and other sources of supply in relentless decline.

The peaking and impending decline of oil supply is sky-writing dramatic changes to activities hitherto taken for granted. Its almost impossible to overstate the importance of oil for so many aspects of daily life.

Some examples are obvious, though many others are less so. Unless you believe, for instance, we can replace avgas with recycled cooking-oil, mass air travel is finished, not necessarily imminently, but inevitably. Flying may remain an option for the well-to-do, but huge economies of scale will be lost, and industries structured around low-cost flights will be left high and dry.

Much the same applies to motoring...

Metabolic syndrome in a nutshell "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Finding anyone, regarding any subject of your choice, with whom I will wholeheartedly agree is getting more and more difficult as I cut through the quagmire that the internet is starting to consist of.

Even some of the people whose opinions I took as gospels six or seven years ago are seemingly losing the plot. Its a little bewildering. Is it me? Maybe its me losing the plot. Ill readily admit its getting more and more difficult to understand everything thats going on as it all unravels faster and faster.

Last week I featured another YouTube video starring someone who was campaigning on the issue of the growing metabolic syndrome epidemic, but even he didnt understand the role or otherwise of fiber in the diet. Then along comes this heart surgeon who, again, had so far flown under my radar. Philip Ovadia seems more than qualified to talk about metabolic syndrome, hes operated on many victims of this epidemic and he was one of its victims himself.

Yes its a long video, but knowledge always comes at a price. I found this faultless, and I really appreciate his honesty and passion.
